I don't see how leaked "rumors" would affect a GM in the least. Of course they'll affect the fans but the GMs can just give each other a call and see what's going on.

Further, I have a hard time believing that a GM will lie to another GM's face since they may have to deal w/ that same GM sometime in the future. So if Denver hears about San Antonio having interest they can just call up Petrie and talk to him about it. Obviously Geoff isn't going to divulge everything but it's really hard for me to believe that Denver is getting their panties in a bunch over a leaked "rumor"

the same poster who leaked the shaq to phoenix rumours on the suns board over a week before ANY media even sniffed it, (he has verified links inside the suns organization - check with the mods) has said the suns are offering the ATL draft pick and a trade exception to the full value of artests contract for him

thoughts?

Can't see the Kings taking that unless the Suns offered more. If we just wanted a 1st, Artest would be in Denver right now. It's been widely known that Denver offered expirings (Najera/Smith) + 1st for Artest and the Kings turned it down. Atlanta's pick will be better in terms of prospects available, but still..

Artest for the TPE and the ATL pick is a good deal for the Kings, it's either a mid first or late lottery, (could be late lottery if ATL plays the way they did last night against the lakers) and then the Kings have financial flexibility with that trade exception

the reason the PHO deal is better though is because that's like a 9 million dollar TPE, so we could trade Kenny Thomas and Francisco Garcia and end up with Jermaine O'Neal even though the salaries dont match so its a very valuable trading asset especially when not totally under the cap

Kings annouce last-minute trade with Spurs

Wednesday, Feb 20, 2008 5:20 pm EST
Word has leaked of a huge trade between the Sacramento Kings and the San Antonio Spurs. Talks between the Kings and Nuggets apparently broke down this morning. The Spurs will receive small forward Ron Artest, while the Kings will gain Brent Barry, one other undisclosed expiring contract, and San Antonio's 1st Round picks for 2008 and 2010.

Eze didn't post that on his site or say anything about it. It was just a poster on there so I threw it up in case it had any truth. It was a fake, so forget about it.

Nope, if the deal was at all true, Kings put a deadline on it (8 AM this morning) and the Magic passed on it. It's dead, according to a few people.
