I understand the reasoning why some would like that trade for us, but i wouldn't be nearly excited as you are given two role players like Haslem/Wright could help, not all that much though.

Role players help teams win games when there are some studs to do the bulk of the damage, we'd still lack that. I'm not against making smaller moves like this, but this franchise will be spinning it's wheels until we find a way to get better high end talent.

I disagree entirely. I believe that a team like ours can't trade or sign the kind of star you are talknig about---we need to draft them and make sure to develop them into a star.

However, how are we ever going to do that if we have a roster full of guys who don't try and play selfishly? Hell, we may already have a guy who can be that player in Bogut or Yi, but I have no doubt that their development has been stymied at least a little bit by the lazy and greedy culture that has permeated our club.

I just don't buy that. Stud players have to much skill to be held back by their teammates. Bogut's inability to consistently put up better numbers is far more tied into him not having a midrange jumper, a post up jumper, and not being a ferocious rebounder. Yi is a rookie that seriously needs better upper body strength and is adjusting to much better competition along with being in a new country.

I'm by no means against trading guys like Mo, Redd, or Villanueva. The roster IMO needs drastic changes. With that said, how good either Bogut/Yi ends up becoming is far far more on them than it is on changes to the roster.

I agree with what you are saying Dude about needing top tier players.....

Where I think a Miami trade could help though is at least giving us more salary flexibility.

I'm not sure how Mo's base year compensation status affects things, but if we could pull off a Bobby/Mo for J-Will/Haslem trade, we'd in effect dump $65 million in future salary obligations and take back about $14 million in future salary with Haslem for his two years left. J-Will could be re-signed or let go.

But that $51 million in future salary savings could be spent elsewhere. We wouldn't necessarily have much if any cap room with this deal, but we'd have cushion to extend Bogut and spend the full MLE on a player or two the next two seasons if we liked......or we could later take back a bigger salary guy in a Redd trade.

And as Rafer said, we need a few bench guys who play the right way and do the little things to help our team win....Haslem is one of those guys.

This would be a great trade for the bucks, gets a guy that plays the game the right way (haslem), a young athletic 3 (wright) and some financial flexibility.

Heading into the offseason we have:

Rookie PG/Parker/Ivey (if we want)
Redd/Bell
Wright/Mason
Haslem/Yi
Bogut/Gadz

Most likely we'll have a very nice draft pick where we can grab our pg.
If wright can develop into a good starter the bucks are set for next season.

Then finish the offseason by re-upping bogut with that added flexibility from dumping simmons contract.
