I definitely don't mind the Blazers announcers. Sure, they could be better, but they're certainly better than a lot of teams IMHO. The only reason other teams dislike our announcers is it kind of rubs salt into the wound if you're a fan of an opposing team and you're listening to portland's announcers. They are supposed to broadcast for BLAZER fans and that's what they do.

It just irks me that someone that is paid to do a broadcast can't get simle facts and names wrong. I mean for goodness sake can he not research this at all.
Hey, as Barrett often points out, Rice does much more game prep than he does. He's just a little senile and can't remember who/what he's talking about sometimes... Give the dude a break man, he is old as the hills you know

Do the misstated names and dates really bother you that much? As far as the playing favorites, what's wrong with that? Are announcers supposed to be impartial? The Sebastian Express wrote:Rice is horrible. He gets names wrong, and facts wrong. He makes inappropriate jokes about other players at times. Yes, it does bother me. Just like it bothers me that Canzano cannot understand the basic functions of the CBA but then tries to use it (and just embarrasses himself) in his articles or blog entries.
These people are paid to bring up facts, stats and names. I imagine they get paid very well to do so. Yet Rice constantly is butchering these things, and it is embarrassing. It is embarrassing because we here know these facts, yet we are not paid to know them. We just know them because hey, we have eyes and we can read and we have ears and we can listen.
If another team's announcers were to say something like "The Blazers were foolish and gave Joel Przybilla a max contract" it would be so wrong and rather insulting. Because they are spreading misinformation about another franchise that makes that franchise look bad and that management look bad, when it is simply not the case. Just like when Rice suggested that Philadelphia had given Dalembert a max contract, when they had not infact done so. I believe he was about twenty million off of a max contract, infact.

99% of fans have no clue what the dollar value of a max contract is and couldn't care less. Rice exaggerates often and it makes no difference because he's making his point. Someone was paid a boatload of money and that is all that matters to most.
