Atlanta (21-29) at Sacramento (24-28)

Post#1 » by RIPskaterdude » Thu Feb 21, 2008 1:36 am

Wait what? We have a game tonight? Since when?!

Mike Bibby established himself as a go-to guy late in games with Sacramento. The Kings have proven they can end a slump without the veteran point guard, but the Atlanta Hawks could certainly use one of his clutch performances.

After struggling in his Hawks debut, Bibby will face the Kings for the first time since being traded this past weekend as the teams open their season series Wednesday night.

Atlanta (21-29) acquired Bibby from Sacramento (24-28) on Saturday in exchange for starting point guard Anthony Johnson, 2006 first-round pick Shelden Williams, backup point guard Tyronn Lue, veteran forward Lorenzen Wright and a 2008 second-round pick.

Bibby, 29, averaged 13.5 points and 5.0 assists in 15 games for the Kings after missing their first 36 contests while recovering from surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb. He went to Sacramento from Vancouver in a trade before the 2001-02 season and helped the Kings reach the Western Conference finals that season, developing a reputation as an outstanding late-game performer.

In its first game without Bibby, though, Sacramento snapped a three-game losing streak - its longest of 2008 - with a 105-94 win over Portland on Tuesday night.

"After the trade, we feel like we have our team," said Kings guard Kevin Martin, averaging a team-high 23.2 points per game. "We have to continue to build ... starting (Wednesday)."

Since A-Rod hasn't made a thread yet, I decided to throw this one up. Thoughts?

I hope Bibby goes 1/10 with 5 TO's! 8)

It's possible Bibby doesn't play tonight. There was a report earlier saying he was questionable because of a heal injury from last night.

I would personally like to see Shelden get a lot of minutes tonight and go off on his former team.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

He'll play tonight, if he's traded, it'll be tomorrow before the deadline, IMO.

Why would he play tonight if he gets traded tomorrow. WHy risk the injury if its only a matter of hours before he gets traded?

By the way I hope this DEAL DOES NOT go down. I like artest and think we might have a shot at getting a bonzi type of deal. Where no one offers him anything or CANT offer him anything.

Petrie would HAVE TO re-sign him if the best deal out there was liek 8-9 million per year wouldnt he?

Wait unless you know something else I dont, what do the KNICKS HAVE TO OFFER? BESIDES THE MLE?

Last time I checked 5.5 million is LESS then 8-9 million right?

Because the Kings might not accept a deal until tomorrow. No reason to make him sit out if he's not in a potential deal to be traded yet.

I understand that but is it worth risking him getting hurt to not make a trade?

And this question was originally because the sixers poster that the artest deal to denver was done.

I wish Horford was a King.

Bibby is the better player over Beno no doubt, but we are a better team with Beno running things. Our offense just looks better, it did earlier in the year when Bibby was out and now that Bibby is gone it looks better.
