Bonzi was doing so well for the Rockets. I think he just wants to keep McGrady's first round exit legacy going.

They would have to make the playoffs first. This trade makes that a bit less likely.

Keeping bonzi = 40+ minutes of skip to my lou against nash/williams/davis/paul/terry/fisher/iverson/im forgetting someone... forgive me.

do we really need 2 threads on the same topic?

Remember how many haters bashed Morey for the draft? Where are they now? Thats right... believe in moneyball!

My favourite...the Mike James/Rafer Alston saga.

-Acquire unspectacular point guard on a short contract.

-Trade said player in his contract year, for an even more mediocre point guard with a much larger deal.

-Wait two seasons.

-Reacquire original point guard now that he's declining, and has a much larger contract.

-Continue adding combo guards.

End result: paying James and Alston close to $35 million over the next three seasons, leading to today's salary dump.

I wouldn't consider them the worst in the league, but it would be a shame if Houston cannot turn things around during Yao's prime.

They just lost a year of Mike James contract and got a more serviceable player in Jackson. All for the price of Wells. It's a good deal for the Rockets.

yea i dont really get this trade. wells is at the very least insurance and hes not even playing that bad. unless there a gigantic off court issue that none of us know about i dont really understand this trade. wells also provides toughness.. mike james for bobby jackson is good though.

It's not that bad of a trade IMO because the heart of our team is Yao and tmac. Bonzi was merely riding on their coat tails. However he is still a solid player. Its not that bad of a deal because Bonzi's a free agent after this season and he was leaving the rockets anyway. We just lost his service for this year, which may be a big loss, but looking at how strong the WC is , I don't see us winning against the likes of NO or Jazz with him anyway in a 7 game series.

We get a good vet pg, and dump james' salary. James didn't fit in this team at all and he was most likely to be paid sitting on the bench next season if we kept him. And our promising young rookie carl landry will have more playing time and gain more experience.

Its an awful trade for the rockets. Bobby Jackson is unfortunately done. He's still a useful streak shooter, I guess, but his streaks have been more cold than hot for the past 3 years. He's been under that 40% FG mark for 3 years, and its trending downwards. I'm telling you, in 1 year, he'll make you wish you kept Mike James.

for us it's better for next year cause we lose the worst contract in the nba right now along with larry hughes and brian cardinal, i'am talking about mike james.
right now wells>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>bobby jackson. i'am sure wells will start for the hornets, it was just what they needed... peterson and pedja already can shot.

rockets or tmac fans who have mcgrady as they're name (names like mcgradythebest or tmacformpv) hate mcgrady, i don't know why, but they hate him.

It's these same hysterical Rockets fans that were all losing their panties last summer when Aaron Brooks and Carl Landry were drafted, and the year before that when Shane Battier was acquired from the Grizzlies for a pick that would have otherwise been used to draft Thabo Sefolosha.

Daryl Morey strikes again. So far the only bad move he has made was trading for Mike James, and looks like he just undid that one. The man is a genius.

Eh? I know people don't realize this, but Mike James is literally the worst player in the NBA. I'm not joking. He is completely, completely useless now. He can't break down anyone off the dribble anymore, not even scrubs in garbage time. He can't shoot anymore - his shot is gone. He can't pass. He can't rebound. He can't defend worth a lick. He is, literally, the worst player in the NBA. I wouldn't pay Mike James $25,000 to play for my team.
