Just say no to Zach Randolph.
We really wouldn't "get to dump 3 signing mistakes" either.
After this season, Randolph is still owed $48 mil over the next 3 seasons.
Right now we owe Simmons, Gadzuric, and Bell a combined $51.53666 mil over those 3 seasons. So we're not really dumping that money, we would just be converting it into one gigantic sack of crap, Zach Randolph, with a $3.53666 mil savings.
And beyond that, we owe Bell another $4.09992 mil for the last year of his contract. Sound good? Now you're thinking that when you add that to the other savings, we've just saved ourselves a total of $7.63658 mil. Great for us, right? Not really. We would also be taking on either $19.3998 mil for Jared Jeffries or $3.5 mil for Fred Jones. Or both.
So we'd either be saving only $4.13658 mil OR we'd be taking on an extra $11.76322 mil or an extra $15.26322 mil.
This is NOT a good deal for the Bucks financially, therefore.
Zach Randolph has extreme negative value. He is really that bad for a team. Look at what Portland gave him away for just to get rid of that sorry excuse for an NBA player. And now look at what the Knicks are proposing to take back just to get him the hell off of their team. They're so desperate to dump him that they've not only given up demanding that they get Villanueva back in return, but they've agreed to take back Simmons AND Gadzuric AND Bell, three contracts which are perceived very negatively. Those contracts are even worse once they would be acquired by the Knicks because both Simmons and Bell have full 15% trade kickers. Yet the Knicks still would want to do that trade.
It is the Knicks that are proposing these trades that Kohl keeps rejecting. They're desperate to get rid of Zach Randolph. Desperate.
I cannot believe that people are willing to put all of that aside and want to acquire Randolph. That is just baffling to me.
