Or at least a combo guard ... Isnt' Garcia a 2 who can play minutes at the 1?

imo, the backups we have at PF (Cook, Foyle, Garrity and even Auggie in limited usage) are more capable than having Evans, KeBo or JJ being backup PGs.

LOL! You are cracking me up this morning but no Jameer is the starting dooling would be the backup. You are still just preserving a backup for the backup while having no starting power forward. Even in the East you don't go into the playoffs without A good PF unless you have to. Its crazy talk.

All the names you just mentioned should get quality minutes in the development league (if some of them were not too old for it)

Agreed, I too would take Penny back knowing that he was talented 10 years ago if it meant we could get rid of Garrity.

We need a PF - we can get a vet PG as our backup to our backup this year for the vet minimum - shouldn't be too hard or we get a PG from Seattle along with Wilcox.

Don't let these expirings sit on our books. There are a lot of PR fans in Seattle.

No. He's afraid of Jameer getting hurt and having only 1 other player on the roster capable of playing the point.
yeah like our 3 pg can play the point right? lol

We are two mil over the cap now when our contracts expire we will still be 2 mil over because of the increase next year of Dwight Jameer and Lewis. We will have 0 cap flexibility. We will have the MLE (5.5 mil) and vet mins to fill out our roster. Look for the Magic to reup Dooling and Arroyo if we let the trade deadline pass. We will need all the 5.5 to get a PF we cant use any of it replacing Dooling and Arroyo.

Perhaps thats the real problem. For all we know if you trade Arroyo you might be trading what would have been next months starting PG

I personally think Arroyo is a better natural pg than Nelson. However, I would trade him for the right piece or pieces. I'm not worried about not getting a pg in return. Turk is our best play maker anyway. So we have Nelson, Dooling, and Turk as the PG in reality.

The counter to that is if you use the expirings to get the PF now you don't need the MLE to sign a PF. Wasn't that included in his point? Getting the PF now.

Im sorry if my point was not clear. I was agreeing with the argument that we need to get the PF with our expirings so that the MLE can be used elsewhere. IF we dont do a deal then we will need to resign Arroyo and Dooling so we dont have to use the MLE to replace them. If we dont resign Dooling and Arroyo we waste the MLE looking for bench help and a backup PG.

If Otis Smith can not somehow flip one of these expiring contracts and a youngish prospect for a legitimate starter at either PF or SG, he should be fired at 3:01. This is our best chance to improve our team and everyone, including otis smith, knows that this team as is isnt good enough to win a title. As far as im concerned, Otis Smith sitting on his hands instead of attempting to improve the team means hes not doing his job. It could also be argued that by allowing this opportunity to impove the team to pass he is intentionally sabotaging the team. If this isnt grounds for termination i dont know what is.

I wish i had a job where i could sit around doing nothing and get paid for it.

Then please argue it. I'm dying to hear this logic ...
