A Van Gundy says the Magic's shooting-guard position is suspect --- so says Stan Van Gundy's brother, Jeff, an ESPN analyst.
Talking about the upcoming 3 p.m. trade deadline today and teams' needs, Jeff Van Gundy tells the USA Today, "You look at the Orlando Magic; they have no solid starting 2 guard."
I'm sure Maurice Evans and Keith Bogans will be thrilled to hear that. Because won't they be wondering --- like everybody else -- whether Jeff is just echoing concerns of brother Stan?
Well, it's not exactly news. Stan Van started the season with Bogans and shortly after the team acquired Evans in late November, handed Evans the starting role.
Both Evans and Bogans largely have been career backups.
Gee, I wonder what else Stan, er, Jeff Van Gundy has to say about the Magic?

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

We are weak at shooting guard and worse off at PF and until Nelson steps it up we are a little weak at PG - I think Nelson can play better and Stan is calling Nelson and Dooling out trying to get them motivated.
Our biggest hole is at PF and I would love to see a player like Artest come to the Magic

Artest != PF

like i was saying yesterday, from what I heard Otis was really pushing to add depth to the 4 but in the same deal he wanted a SG to solidify that spot and if he didnt get that type of deal he wasnt doing anything...it was related to me that there are no real PG's going anywhere this season and Otis knows that so he figured the 2/4 would be the only things he could work on...he just didn't want to come off of JJ/Dooling or a first round pick to swing the deal. so he was simply trying to deal with just the expirings and at least one other player (Bogans I assume) which makes his goal fairly unrealistic...

I don't see all the MikeMiller fascination, someone like Pietrus would be a better fit IMHO.
IMO Pietrus could lock down a lot of SG, he's not a great shooter but he's not worse than Bogans or Evans.
