TA is back

Post#1 » by MVP16 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 5:40 pm

These last 2 games after the all star break, TA has looked fantastic...he has looked like the TA of last year. His athleticism is almost all the way back and he seemed to be everywhere on the court in the games against Denver and Golden State.

For parts of the 4th quarter against Golden State, TA ran the offense and he looked pretty good doing it. He got wherever he wanted to go and got to the line 9 times. He also made some good passes/decisions. And he is knocking down threes.

Lastly, his defense looked great. Although Davis got 29 points, I think TA did a great job defending him...Davis just got a few favorable calls and hit some amazing shots.

Even though we have lost the past 2 games, I think the re-emergence of Tony has been a big positive. He is up to averaging 7 points/game and I think that he's going to leap House/Posey as the leading scorer off the bench before the season is over.

I've already said it about two months ago: TA is pure value off the bench!

I agree - he seems to no longer be hesitant to put weight on that leg of his. For most of the season this has been throwing off his shot or forcing him to make bad last minute passess when he should go to the hoop - awesome

It certainly appears that way, and now he's got very nice jumper to go w/his athleticism and ability to get to the rim. I initially was hoping for a guy who could score us 12 per game off the bench like Mike Miller, but if TA is back like he appears to be; we've got that guy.

He just needs to get more time now.

He sometimes makes some bonehead moves, but he more then makes up for it defensively.

I actually think he's dramatically cutting down on the boneheaded moves. He seems to be playing much more within himself. I love his agreesiveness on both ends of the court and how he's always trying to make a big play. His energy is infectious.

Actually he's looked strong for around the last 6 games or so. Good for Tony, good for us.

I have never been sold on tony allen, last season when he broke out i was eating some crow, but honestly, he has some great athletic tools and a far below average basketball mind. I stand here today still not sold on tony allen. Maybe i am wrong, i have seen alot of signs, but he is just not someone i want on the court in a clutch situation

When does he get to take that knee sleeve/brace off?

Remember that with the two injuries, and also with his knees significantly changing functionality every month or so, he's not really all that experienced. I expect his play to still get significantly smarter.

Even though we've lost a couple of games, what TA is doing is now will help this team down the road. His emergence will help solidify that bench.
