Is Kobe at Jordan's Level.....
Listen guys, I had this big debate at the workplace this morning. I want your opinion...... I really do feel that Kobe Bryant is without a doubt at a Michael Jordan Level, as far as skills are considered. Now, no he will never sell out of his own name brand of shoes, and no he will never have his own multi million dollar clothing line, but Kobe is becoming pure assasin when it comes to basketball. At 30 years of age, he is playing at a very high level. Best player in the NBA without a doubt. He has at least 6 more years left in him. Any thoughts???? .......

Who freaking cares? Yet, I feel inclined to answer. Kobe will never be Jordan because Jordan had a mystique about him. Kobe had to have a team built around him, if Kobe went down - this team would still win a lot of games. That's how stacked it is. C'mon man, Jordan didn't have great teams - he had Pippen and a bunch of role players. Jordan rules, sorry kid but he does. And yes, I know you're a kid. No adult would ask such a ridiculous question. Championships matter kid and Kobe can't do it without Shaq or a stacked team. He's not Jordan.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

I have never and will not compare kobe to MJ but, the double starndard fans have about our guy is so many levels pass ridiculous that there may never be a word for it.
The league is WAAAAAAY more talented than it was back in jordans day (even though he IS THE GOAT) and most teams now are stacked so if kobe wins it now why would that be held against him?

ahaha are you kidding me?? I'm not even that old...but you obviously must be 14. Hakeem Olajuwan, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Michael Jordan, Penny Hardaway (when he was good), Tim Hardaway, Larry Bird, Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Glen Rice, Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Mark Price, Mitch Richmond, Magic Johnson, Dominique Wilkins, Reggie Miller, Shaq (in his early days), etc..

Is this the player comparision thread?
How about the Bull's thread?
The Wizard's thread?
The Laker's Thread?
Maybe the General discussion thread?
Here's where this should be moved too.

They have had about 300 Jordan vs Kobe threads. Read one of them.

dude, espn classic was playing an old bulls knicks game. it was so ridiculously boring, not even funny. they walk up the court, everyone stands around, and mj hits a turnaround jumper. almost no fast breaks, nothing. kobe is playing against a different talent level, and have you seen our competitors lately (its a full out arms race).

^ naw lebron relies on his athleticism so much. He has no go to move or spot on the court, where as kobe, if he can get to his sweet spot, he can end the game 8/10 times.
when lebron gets older and starts to slow down, his game will decrease so much because he wont be able to get the the rim and dunk it everytime like he does. Kobe will always have his shot

And he seems to be getting that down at this point.
Kobe is not on Jordan's level. He may be as talented, or more talented, but he's not the fierce competitor that Jordan was. People are afraid of him, but the world does not look at Kobe like they looked at or look at Jordan. Being on Jordan's level encompasses it all, the mystique, the skill, the clutch, everything. Kobe is not on Jordan's level, and I don't know if anyone ever will be.
The only player in the league right now that can reach that level is Lebron. That's not hating on Kobe at all, he's the best player in the league, but he's also 29 (30 in august) to James' 23 (24 in december), and the difference between the two is not that big. James will be the best player in the NBA, without a doubt, in the next 2-3 years.
I would not be the least bit surprised if James pulls a 'Big O' ends up averaging 28-10-10 at some point in his career. Impressed yes, surprised no. You gotta remember this year is the age equivalent of Jordan's 2nd year. You get him a robin to his batman and you've got a championship contender, you put Lebron in New York and you have an icon.

As much as I hate to say it, Kobe is a beast. He has all the physical tools and mentality to be the best player in the world right now. No one is better.
As good as MJ...tinkering on being so.
He is a freaking MJ clone. The guy walks, talks, shoots, everything like MJ. Its like he got sat down in that Zoolander brainwashing chair and just turn himself into MJ...
