We now know where we are this year .....

Here is where we will be next year.

Nelson, ________, ________
Bogans, JJ, ________
Hedo, ________, _______
Lewis, Battie, Cook
Howard, Foyle (player opt), Gortat (team opt)

10 players at $59.2 mil
1 MLE at $5.5 mil
vet mins at 1.5 mil

That gives us 5.5 mil to get a backup PG and a Back up SF. Add to that three vet mins for 3rd PG and 3rd SF.

Our salaries will then be $67.7 mil with one middle of the road team. If we resign Arroyo and Dooling to their present salaries we have .....

Nelson, Arroyo, Dooling
Bogans, JJ, ________
Hedo, _______, ________
Lewis, Battie, Cook
Howard, Foyle, Gortat

That is 12 players at $67 mil and the $5.5 mil MLE puts us at $72.5 mil ad a couple vet mins and we are in the LUXURY TAX BABY!!!!! WooooHooooo

Chad Ford: (2:33 PM ET ) Would be a great move for Orlando ... why aren't they stepping up?

Even Chad wants to know why the Magic aren't doing anything!!

Otis: i like our current roster... P.S. I heart JJ .... P.P.S. He wont crack our rotation till next year.

Unbelieveable that Otis did not do anything...well almost unbelievable. Wouldn't it suck if we heard days from now that the Magic received a lopsided offer too and Otis turned it down?

so does that mean we have zero chance of landing someone. Howard Mass said that even though it hits 3 and no deal is reported that it may be annonced at 5 or so.

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice post! this seriously could lead a thread of its own.

but you didn't include draft picks (unless you're implying that they aren't worth mentioning anyway).

i think this team needs to embrace the fact that it'll be going in to Luxury tax territory soon once Hedo starts demanding a pay rise.

i guess people better start thinkin of MLE and LLE players. can you use both in the same year?

Wasn't the fact that we won't have 3 players in big contracts in order to avoid going into the L. tax that made us not consider a deal for B Miller? At least that was Denton wrote after talking to Otis about that rumor? So, is Otis expecting to resign Hedo for the MLE?

I must say that I'm pretty disappointed as well. We get a lot of smack about how we will go into the luxury tax if its the right player, but I don't believe that anymore. We are clearly watching our pennies and meanwhile others are stockpiling talent trying to make a playoff push. I just can't believe that there wasn't anything out there that could have helped us with nearly 13M in expirings and JJ at our disposal.

I'm not going to hang all of it on Otis, because I think the final decision comes down from a higher paygrade. Sure teams might have been asking for Hedo at first, which would be a no for me too, but its hard to believe that we couldn't have taken advantage somewhere. I'll give the franchise the benefit of the doubt as we hear details come out, but I'm very depressed at the moment. This is the kind of thing that seperates the great teams from the good teams. I'm happy being good, but I'd be happier being great.

The point is JJ obviously is in our plans. What I don't inderstand is, how you don't trade Bogans if Redick is in our plans.
