I remember years where there was only one or two minor trades but this season has been full of big names moving all over the league. Can anyone think of a year where thare has been this many chnages to NBA rosters in one year (barring expansions) ?

I personally attribute it to KG and Ray Allen. If we are strictly talking midseason Utah started it by adding Korver.

Yep. Lakers started the whole thing. Everyone else just panicked and reacted.

It was just a huge domino effect. Utah and L.A. made good trades so all of the other contenders felt the need to make changes to keep up.

Boston got Ray which then made Minny give them KG. Everything else was a way to try and counter this.

Definitely the Pau Gasol effect. There's no way Phoenix would of pulled off the Shaq trade, or The spurs getting KT, and Dallas getting Kidd if the lakers didn't get Gasol.

No. Boston is in the East.

The West countered each other as all the contenders(6 of them) tries their best to get out of the West.

I now laugh that people questioned trading Giricek (absolutely worthless) + a 1st round pick (a big question mark), for one of the best perimeter shooters in the league, the main offensive weakness of the Jazz then, which suddenly has brought out the 3pt shooter in AK, Williams, and got Okur back on track. This, plus Sloan, finally realized that Hart wasn't the right PG.
