No surprise you made a showing today after an absence ;-)

I was waiting for Otis to maybe surprise us and get Dwight some help upfront. Seems he's content to have him battle it out by himself. It's not like he would have traded someone valuable, it was exprings.

As for JJ I really can't figure out what te deal is. Obviously he doesn't get PT and probably won't so why Otis would insist on keeping him makes no sense.

Well it helps that New Jersey sucked big time when they should have been dominating and Washington has had its major guys hurt. (Kidd, Carter, Jefferson >>> Howard, Lewis, Hedo and their scrubs better than ours. Same for Arenas, JAmison, Butler. Ditto for the Pacers. Plus Hedo turning it on this year. Without Hedo and Rashards mediocre play the team would be right on track for what I said.

I am going to wait and see if the press release what we were offered in return for what Otis offered before I pass judgement; much like last year.

All I am going to say, is that its now 2 years where Otis hasnt been able to get anything; I am not going to criticise him for not trading individually, he probably got offered trash like last year, but I am starting to think if we want to be a power house team we need a power house GM, one that commands respect, and unfortantly I dont think Otis does that.

Gentlemen, now more than ever I'm convinced no trade for our expirings contracts weren't made due to FINANCIAL REASONS, ownership, probably told Otis not to go near luxury tax territory. As usual they teased up with the Rashard signing, but they aren't commited to spend the extra amount to put this team over the hump, I guess winning is not that important for our owners.
You'll see they will fill the rosters with low salary scrubs next year....

You have to be kidding me. So, having New Jersey and Washington playing better would mean we'd get only 37 wins this year?

Oh, and Rashards "medicore" play is one of the main reasons we're already over 30 wins.

would anyone here be upset if you found out that Otis might have been offered Artest/Garcia/Douby/Moore for Hedo/Garrity/Arroyo/Augustine/Bogans/Future 1st?

At the beginning of the year tell me who thought that Toronto, Cleveland, Washington and New Jersey would be this bad so far? And Chicago too? We have a team with one star center, and overpaid one dimensional Allan Houston Clone who's averaging even less than Houston did, and a rejuvenated Turk and gaping holes at PG, SG and PF The 8 seed was what you'd see. We may get the 4th seed by default of our division being so bad. Cleve will get the 3rd seed.

I completely agree.

Otis is good at maintaining a clubhouse and is good at taking the temperature of the team but as a wheeler dealer he is lacking.
Maybe he would be a good assistant coach.

I question Jameer's extension and when the mood of the NBA seemed to be in trader mood we were inactive and shut out.

Also, the other thing our GM's are lacking is in talent evaulation.
Magic fan since Inaugural 89 season.

Maybe there actually wasn't anything good out there? I mean, I know we like to pretend we know exactly what other teams were offering (their good players for our garbage. Why trade us Wilcox for expirings in an attempt to sign a good player when you can just keep the good player you already have?), but maybe there was just nothing there.

Or maybe Otis really does just have an unhealthy infatuation with JJ.

I don't know though, so I'm gonna refrain from bashing Otis at this time. I'll wait until more is revealed. I was extremely angry last year, since we were in a tailspin and clearly not a very good team. This year we've been a solid team, although still with gaping holes. But a solid team nonetheless.

Only thing is, like Hec has said, without using these guys to get something, I wonder how we're going to make that next step. We basically can't. Unless our MLE signing unexpectedly takes a leap into super stardom.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

As much as I'm in love (no homo) with Hedo, I would be upset if that was offered and Otis turned it down.
Yes, Hedo is having a monster year but getting a big like Miller would allow Rshard to play the SF where I believe he is as effective as Hedo as been this year. Garcia would be a great fit at the SG slot, douby is a nice prospect, Moore a great hustler from the bench. A lot of good things coming this way. Hedo and a future (low) first seems like a fair price.

But that's just me...
