How are the Raptors bad on D? We're 7th in pts allowed and 11 in defensive efficiency. We're better than 2 thirds of the league.

The Raptors aren't built for the offs.

Well, it was a case of a young squad playing against a veteran team; I would be careful about extrapolating their fate in perpetuity from that result. One could also find irony in favouring the Rockets based upon playoff performances past.

You could, but it wouldn't be valid. They lost to a legitimately good basketball team (Jazz).

The Raptors lost to the Nets - and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Raps have the HCA in the series? That makes things even worse.

With the exception of the first game, where they did look rather nervous, Toronto held serve on home court...and came within a basket of taking it home for game seven.

As for the validity, Houston's top three players, Yao (0-3), T-Mac (0-6), and Battier (0-4) have had multiple trips to the playoffs without success. I agree that they lost to a good team last year, and that Yao/McGrady take far more flak than is due for their playoff performances.

It's simply that it is beyond silly to declare one team to be poorly constructed for the playoffs on the basis of a single series. It's even more so when done in support of a team whose starting five includes zero players with a series win under their belt, four of whom are in at least their seventh season (for that matter, I believe that only Bobby Jackson and Deke have seen the second round).

Of course, I'm pretty sure (hope?) that you're aware of the contradiction, and just trying to provoke a reaction.

If i'm a betting man, i'm going to take the Rockets.

However, anything can happen in a 7 game series. Anyone who is saying that it's clearly the Rockets and that the Raps would stand no chance are not putting much thought into the series.

The Rockets had the Jazz down 2-0 in that series last year and they had them down 3-2. The Rockets just choked. Also, the Raptors had to deal with a team with a lot of experience in the Nets. The Raps simply did not know how to win in the playoffs last year because of youth and they still were one pass away from taking it to game 7 at home where they were virtually unbeatable.
