We can only hope that this led's to Dwight have a mediocre NBA career like so many other recent Slam Dunk winners*, Gerald Green, Nate Robinson, Fred Jones, Desmond Mason, Brent Barry.

*Unless, of course, he becomes a Celtic.

That Superman "dunk" wasn't even a real dunk. He threw the basketball from 3 feet away. I remember a similar dunk by Keon Clark a few years ago, but Keon was inches away. I still didn't consider it a dunk.

He put on an impressive display, but the Superman thing was god awful, and I can't believe he got credit for a dunk for that.

FWIW, while Dwight may not have technically "dunked" it in the same fashion as you'd see from him in a game, his hand was DAMNED close to the rim and it conformed to the rules of the slam dunk contest, so it was viable. Then the gimmick was awesome and he's a ridiculous athlete.

The left-handed tap dunk was my favorite from the whole night.

His best dunk he never even touched the rim he just wore a stupid costume. A dunk isn't the same thing as a shot.

There are only 4 good slam dunk contests; 86, 88, 2000, and 2003. Dwight Howard only had 2 good dunks; the volleyball one and the windmill behind the backboard. Other than those 2 dunks, the rest of the dunk contest was lame.

Howard's first dunk behind the backboard was impressive, albeit done in two attempts. Iguodala bouncing the ball, catching it with his left hand and then going behind the back and dunking with his right hand was sic, if not better. Or his dunk where a teammate bounces it off from behind the backboard and he rushed in and dunked it over his shoulder one-handed almost hitting his head at the base of the backboard. That's a ten just from him avoiding hitting his head. The best dunk made by Howard in my opinion was the one where he pushes the ball off the glass and dunks it with the opposite hand. Too bad I didn't realize what he'd done at first given the poor camera angle. It took replay to see it all in one motion. The childish "Superman Dunk" generated a more impressive reaction. I mean Howard jumped too soon. He was at least a foot too far from the rim. No way he could dunk coming down. He'd no choice but to just throw the ball into the basket realizing what I'd just said. He jumped too soon. When Miller first spoke to him afterwards. You never got the impression that he'd "meant" to do that. Meaning he knew that he'd messed up the dunk but was able to save face thanks in part to his quick decision to throw it and the fan reaction to his generic getup. Everyone was distracted or lost in the moment.

I liked Gerald cupcake dunk but his first mistake was misnaming it. I'd actually thought he was working with a cake and when that cheerleader brought out that medium sized bakery box. I was shocked to see that all that was for a mere cupcake. Lol. Hey, it was better than that Pierce lob from over the backboard to Gerald into a basic dunk last year. Overall, I'd felt Green was lacking... I thought he'd awe dropping dunks saved for this year that wasn't used for last year. He was runner up... But, the field was weak. I actually picked Moon. Oops!
