Raptors Commentators are mad at vince rofl

Post#1 » by KB24VC15 » Fri Feb 22, 2008 10:30 am

have any of u guys ever watched a raps game with the commentators they have?? i mean for guys who are always talking about class and so on, they are so quick to to bash other players, Kobe just got heated in a discussion they had, they always bring up vince and bad mouth him like he slept with there sisters or something, even bonzi wells got some bashing in the progress for no reason at all, and now they wonder why there team gets no respect and nobody wants to even watch them, there commentators are the biggest homers in the league, no wonder why kenny smith said he does not like to watch the raptors, if it wasnt for vince being a Raptor, these very same dudes who bad mouth them would of been out of the job yrs ago cuz the Raptors would not of have stayed in TORONTO if it wasnt for vince. they would of had been relocated 7 damn yrs ago

Of course the Raptors and their fanbase can't forget Vince. He's the reason their franchise still exists.

I still wonder why many americans think the franchise exists because of vince. You realize that as a basketball market Toronto is FAR bigger than NJ, right? When is the last time any of you were at your own venue to see a game? Its empty.

Oh, puh-lease!

You aren't kidding anyone, especially ME. I followed the franchise since it's innagural season. Toronto was headed in the same direction as Vancouver until VC came onto the scene and put people in the seats. If you suggest anything different, you're in denial!

This topic, as well as many others that state the words VC/Toronto is a nest for the raptrolls to come in and show their true colors. Toronto's announcers are homers. I rank them among the worst 3 in the league, behind only Boston.

Ha that's a good one.

The Leafs buying the Raptors is what solidified the franchise. Not that there was any chance of it leaving.

I'm not the biggest Chuck fan myself. His catch phrases get to me. They do make the game a bit more exciting, I guess I will admit.

Chuck is a lot better - very knowledgeable on all sports - on his daily radio show.

It is fun to boo Vince. it is obvious it affects him to a great extent. I think he even feels bad for how he ended things in Toronto. He is a good guy if you get right down to it.

But can anyone say the trade worked out bad for us, looking the the two teams now?

No denial here. I am a Raps fan too (and Toronto resident) and have followed them since the beginning and you cannot compare Vancouver situation with Toronto at all.

Toronto had the fan support pre-VC and was among the top 10 in attendance every year pre-VC. VC brought the USA / Worldwide media attention to Toronto and 'blew it up' but the Raptors franchise was very secure before then. Toronto had the fan support / support of the local business community / and after MLSE had an ownership with big $$. Toronto was secure with or without VC, he just gave them more exposure and attention and we loved it.

Vancouver on the other hand had Stu Jackson & poor mgmt / leadership and a lack of support from the business community.

Leo Rautins hates VC and will dog him every chance he gets but Leo disliked VC even when he was a Rap.

Anyways topics like this only fuel troll activity. This board was getting better. I hope Nets fans don't start trolling Dallas boards either (or vice-versa). It's weak.

During the first few years after the acquisition, you had to buy Raptors season tickets to get Leafs season tickets.

Don't make the mistake of thinking the Raptors need to make a profit (even though they do) for them to be worthwhile to MSLE.

coincidence? Not hardly...

What does that prove other than he drew more fans? That is very different from saving the franchise as you imply.

No one doubts the extra support VC brought to Toronto. Heck he did it throughout the NBA. Wherever he played attendance would go up & home teams would actually boo their own team if VC was stopped from doing a dunk.

but the premise that Toronto would have lost their franchise like Vancouver without VC I think is wrong.

Anyways can't argue too much w/ a fellow VC fan or fanboys/homers as certain people like to say.

I showed those stats to prove that the attendance was the greatest when VC was there. Birth of the Cool suggested attendance, I thought I'd provide a stat.

We'll have to agree to disagree, we will never know. But for those suggesting the team would be where it was today without VC, I strongly disagree. He attracted Canadians who weren't basketball fans to the arena, as well as put Canadian basketball back on the map in the US.
