Thanks.
By the way, I'm right there with you on missing Harris and not really wanting to trade for Kidd. Would have much rather swung a deal for Artest or Maggette via Terry (3 team deal). I started cursing when I found out they had the Stack deal in place, then cheering when George negged it, and more so when Stack's comments came out, and then got upset again. Harris was probably my favorite player on the team, it was between him and Howard, but I think Harris surpassed him this year.
I don't think I'm as down on the Mavs as you are right now (I can pretty much guarantee that), because I think this Kidd deal has some potential if they gel.
I've accepted that this is the team we'll be watching for the next 2-3 seasons, and I'll be cheering for them just as hard.
Who You Think Kidd Will Make Better?

As long as Avery doesn't run his ISO crap then Kidd should benefit everyone.
Avery needs to let Kidd loose eventually and let him run all the plays. I'm sick of ISO offense with hard shots and if that doesn't change, then this whole thing was a waste.
Anyways way too early to pass judgment, but I did like that Kidd lob to Josh (haven't seen that in forever!) and the Dirk dunks. Dirk definitely does look motivated ever since the trade broke out. Hopefully our team gels soon, people were looking (understandably) lost last game.

From Marc Stein (echoing my sentiments):
I wholeheartedly disagree. Why? Because the reigning MVP wholeheartedly disagrees. "I think he's going to give his style to us," Nowitzki insists.
And I believe that, too. As one high-ranking club official reminded me, there is at least one pretty good explanation for why the Mavs' post-Nash offense has devolved into a system that relies so heavily on isos: "We couldn't pass." Which is no longer a problem.
You could have made the case that, until Kidd's return, Nowitzki was indeed Dallas' best passer and finisher. After just one practice and a flight to New Orleans in advance of Kidd's debut Wednesday, Nowitzki had already seen enough to declare: "He gives me passes that I could only dream about."
Here's the link to Stein's blog on Kidd. He's pretty much spot on with the analysis, IMO.

Thank you for posting that! Finally someone puts into words EXACTLY how I feel about the trade.

Being a Kidd fan since his days at Cal, I believe I can offer some insight into the situation.
If Avery decides to run Kidd and Terry together for long stretches, I think Kidd can have his greatest impact. He will be able to guard WC SGs effectively for stretches, and leading the break with a finsher/shooter like Terry will be ideal, similar to the Nets' glory days with Kittles.
Josh Howard will be a pure best in the playoffs, make no doubt about it. He has polished his one-on-one game more than I thought he could over the course of his career, but I see Kidd taking Josh to a whole 'nother level.
Dampier will have to be more reliable now with few C options, but Kidd will help Erick in two areas. Obviously, Kidd knows how to dump it down low, and Dampier knows how to finish. Boom! Instant double-digit scorer, IMO. But how does he stay out of foul trouble? By having another rebounder on the floor to clean up long caroms, Dampier won't feel compelled to commit silly over-the-back calls, and be more inclined to hustle down the floor to set up offense.
In short, all the HeadBand Boys will receive a jolt of efficiency from the Kidd. The big question, that may ultimately decide whether or not the Mavericks make it back to the Finals, will be Avery's and Kidd's relationship. Will Avery let loose of the reins, and allow Jason to run his team? Will Kidd accept that Johnson is boss? I think Kidd realizes the opportunity he has been given, and won't squander it.
