Can we get the Sam Cassell countdown started?

On the Cs he'd have to take all of House's minutes and perhaps some of Tony's to get the role he'd just be handed on the Spurs. Of course, this should be pretty easy for him.

This is completely the wrong way to look at things.

Right now the Celtics play Rondo about 30 mpg + House 15 mpg at the PG position w/Ray Allen or TA filling in any gaps.

But Ray and Paul are both up at over 38 mpg at the 2 and 3 positions. Posey is also playing more minutes than he did when the Celtics came roaring out of the gates (although many of those are at PF).

The key here is that Cassell is big enough to pair with House or Rondo in the backcourt for 10 minutes a game. Cassell makes the Celtics deeper, but one of the big benefits is that I think he'd allow Doc to back off on Ray Allen's minutes. Tony Allen still has his role and the team is in better shape for a playoff run...

Cassell is not that stupid to join the Cavs to play with Lebron. Lebron is a very individual type.

I didn't consider the Spurs. But that would really negate Stoud so I don't think they go that route.

With CLE he'd be playing the same role Boobie does for them. And West is enough to fill their PG slot.

With these in mind I don't think either offers more then vet excpetion for them.

Then you add the sentimental value of getting to the WCF with KG and the ECF with Ray and I think he comes here to try and finish the job.

Ah it's hiting you now as well. We played DET and CLE to standstills without a healthy Tony Allen or a Sam Cassel. Add them to our team and even though CLE improved it puts us over the top of both of those teams in the East fo sho!!!!!!

Cassell turned around the clippers when they got him from Minny, he's still a very high impact player, even off from the bench. Ray and Paul need to be playing fewer minutes, Tony needs to be playing more now, and Cassell can grab some of Ray's minutes as well. The thing is that Posey would become our defacto backup PF and likely lose most of his SF minutes, I don't know how I feel about that. Cassell would definitely make us a more versatile team, but what would be his impact on the defensive end?

Sam's Opponent per at pg: 16.6
Rondo's Opponent per at pg: 16.4

So it doesn't look like we'd be losing much on the defensive end with Rondo leaving the game. Sam has Kaman behind him, which might skew the stats somewhat.
