Let's just sign Malone then. :p
Now on a serious note, if we can't sign a good decent big to atleast reinforce our front court for the playoffs, I hope the Jazz staff decide to bring of Fess to be at least our 3rd string C. Remember guys, he's our "secret weapon" vs. the Lakers!!

I think we'll probably see Fess called up in early March as the Jazz prepare for the stretch run. He's got to be on the playoff roster, because if nothing else, we are going to need his fouls against Yao, Bynum, Duncan and Shaq.
I would have liked to see KT on the Jazz, but I think Millsap fills enough of that roll that we can be fine with what we've got. I'd almost like to see the Jazz sign Barry though, just to keep him away from the Spurs or Nuggets.

a bit ot, but it seems we only hear of deals the jazz almost made. and k thomas is only the latest. from my perspective, it seems that whenever there is any competition between teams for a given player, the jazz end up on the short end. was utah competing for and won korver? the only time i can remember in recent history was the deron williams pick. we competed for and won that #3 pick. any others?

KOC needs to offer this man a contract right now. Have Deron and company make some calls as well. Granted we are probably last of the contending teams on the wish list to move to and go play for, but he's a piece you cannot ignore. Huge.

The question about if the Knicks will still be bad 3 summers from now is an interesting one. They are buried under lots of undesirable contracts this summer leading into 08-09 with over $90 mill already committed. However, they may be in a position to trade expiring deals during next season with the following:
- Stephon Marbury $22 mill expiring deal
- Eddy Curry has an early termination option (or 2 years left at $10.5 and $11.2 mill)
- Quentin Richardson has a player option ($9.3 mill)
- Jamal Crawford has an early termination option (or 2 years left at $9.3 and $10 mill
- Malik Rose expiring at $7.6 mill
- Jerome James has a player option ($6.6 mill)
One would expect they could turn all that into something positive to help the team build. But there is the Isiah Thomas issue that still needs to be resolved. I expect him to lose his job this summer as his players are starting to turn on him. Do they keep Zach Randolph and his bad attitude? Can they find a coach who can make order of chaos? My bet is the Jazz still have a good chance of getting a 2010 lottery pick as all those issues will take some time to iron out.

There is absolutely no way to predict where the Knicks will be 3 drafts from now. The Celtics went from one of the league's worst teams to championship contender this offseason in a matter of days. That Knicks pick could end up literally anywhere in the draft, and it'll be a long time before we get a clear picture.

The roster 3 years from now is meaningless. The roster 2 years from now will determine the draft pick.
Well, the roster may change that year as well, affecting the draft pick, but okay. The fact of the matter is still that projecting where the pick will end up at this point, so far in advance, is speculative at best.

Indeed. If they hire a competent Gm and coach they will turn it around rather quickly in the Eastern Conference.loserX wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Very sensible. But if I was a Jazz fan, I wouldn't count on EVEN having that pick come the 2010 draft. In the 2009, you guys have a lot of decisions to make. Boozer will DEFINITELY OPT OUT and if Miller wants to keep him expect to pay close to 15M first year. Deron will also expect to get paid> starting salary 12M. Millsap 5M. Even if Okur doesn't opt out the Jazz will be commited to over 72M for 10 players NOT including the 2008 pick plus 3 additional players to fill out the roster (14 minimum-league rules). With the lux. tax @ around 71-72 you will be over. My feeling is that this summer the Jazz will be dangling that pick to get rid of AK47's contract. And guess who has the ending contracts to spare your teem the lux tax.....MY KNICKS
