The Suns have signed Linton Johnson to a 10-day contract, in an effort to fill their final roster spot before the Friday deadline.
Linton, who worked out for the Suns on Tuesday, will be in uniform, but will likely not be active against the visiting Boston Celtics on Friday.
The former 6-foot-8 New Orleans Hornets forward averaged 4.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game during his 133-game career and is insurance behind Grant Hill at the small forward position.
Despite the signing of Johnson, the Suns are likely awaiting a few potential buyouts, including that of recently acquired Seattle SuperSonics guard Brent Barry, according to Sports 620 KTAR.

Johnson from what I remember seeing with the Hornets... he can shoot adequately (moreso from mid-range I think), is a big SF, strong, has toughness, significant athlete, good rebounder, finishes around the basket, hustles, and he can defend to an extent.

The fact that he got a 10-day contract tells you how much the Suns expect from him. If Mike D won't play 1st round picks (Tucker) or vets (Skinner), why would he play a 10-day guy unless 8 guys fouled out. And, if that happened, I'd expect to see Aaron Nelson out there suited up before Johnson.

Are you sure you're not talking about the other L. Johnson from the Hornets??
