Magloire Waived By Nets; Flip Murray Waived
Could we use him in anyway?
Edit: Flip Murray was also officially waved,

It also says that spot is most likely to be used for Dale Davis.

Dumars was reportedly trying to trade for him yesterday, so I think we'll definitely have interest. Of course so will Dallas and they have the full MLE to offer. Magloire is from Toronto, so we might have a little home town edge there, assuming of course TO doesn't want him.
I wonder if we'll cut Murray and see him go to NJ since Harris is a few weeks away from playing.

I'm sure Boston will also be interested as well.
I think his three suitors will be Boston, Detroit and Dallas. I think Dallas has to be the favorite as they can offer more money and playing time. the draw back there is that it's going to be a tough road in the play-offs for any team in the west. Detroit and Boston both have an easier road to the ECF's, though Boston could probably offer a rotation spot. All we can offer is to be the fifth big off the bench.
For that reason I think we'd rank third on his go-to list.

Five guards: PG Billups, SG Hamilton, G Stuckey, G Dixon, PG Hunter
Five bigs: F-C Wallace, F-C McDyess, PF Maxiell, PF Johnson, C Magloire
Also, Tayshaun and Hayes at SF.
That is championship-worthy.
Quick question: when Chauncey and Hunter are in the game together, who brings the ball up the court?

Dallas can offer him the MLE, meaning prorated, he'd get about $2M to go to Dallas, of course with Dallas in LT territory it would be a dollar for dollar penalty for Cuban, but I don't think he minds. The most we can pay him is the vets minimum, meaning about $500K the rest of the season here.

^Also, I'd like to see Afflalo replace Hunter and Hermann to replace Hayes/Magloire on the active list, depending on matchups.
If we were to play, say, Boston in the ECF, I'd rather see Afflalo in there to check Allen/Pierce/Posey.
If Cleveland were to come up in the second round, I would certainly like to see Magloire stay in to check Ilgauskus at times.
and so on.

The Nets have Sean Williams, Josh Boone, DaSagana Diop, Stromile Swift and Nenad Krstic, all young players with upside.
There's not enough room for THEM, so how could there have been for Magloire?

You're not going to get much better at this time of year - maybe Elson, though with Swift hurt again, they could keep him around. Maybe Doleac, but is he better than Magloire. Theo Ratliff would be interesting, however Minnesota is keen on keeping Al Jefferson at PF for the time being, so they could use Theo.
Magloire was a nine and nine player two years ago with starter minutes, a six and six player last year with 20 minutes a game. He's been crap this year, but has been marginalized in NJ.
I think he'll want playing time to earn another contract and I think Dallas and Boston can both promise him more minutes. Here he's a fifth bigman, though could play over Amir come the play-offs. Hell he could play over Maxey depending on the match-up in the play-offs as well.
