Ronald "Flip" Murray Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by magee » Sat Feb 23, 2008 12:26 am

Yes, it had to be done. This appreciation is dedicated to players who never fit a team's system and fail to adapt to it. This appreciation is also dedicated to a pure scorer that will thrive in the D League. I appreciate Flip Murray because he was in the NBA and has a long shot of returning.

Thank you, Flip Murray. Although your moments never came in a Pistons' uniform, they were there. You will be missed by almost nobody other than those that joke about a certain player still being on NBA 2K's free agent list when they were bounced out of the league 6 years ago. I won't even touch Live, who still had Eddie Griffin on their free agent list.

Good luck in your future endeavors, Flip.

I appreciate that he was only involved in "one" shooting incident in metro Detroit. :)

I'd love to know what really happened that night. I never really bought Flip's version.

I liked Flip, he had some pretty good games and did well last year when Chauncey was injured. I also cant believe how young he is, he looks old enough to be Greg Oden's slightly younger brother

Flips problem is and always has been this; when filling in for an injured starter he plays as well as you could reasonably expect any bench player to do - but that is still not quite good enough to make him a full time starter. And he's never been able to give that same sort of production and consistency in a more limited role off the bench.

He'll never be a starter on a good team. And he'll never be a successful bench player on a good team either. However, he could actually be pretty damn good as a starter for a bad team. But bad teams usually want to develop young players.

But if anybody loses a starter to injury for a few weeks look out - Flip will be receiving a phone call.

Flip's had a few really impressive dunks in his time here. He's also owned Steve Nash, theres been worse Pistons.

The temptation to make this my first lock is overwhelming, but the fact that it pays tribute to one of my least favorite Pistons of all time isnt justification enough I suppose....

I wish I was more willing to abuse my newfound power. Stupid conscience. :nonono:

I couldnt believe it either. Went to look up the hinrich slam & seen this 4 min vid

Always thought muarrys game was exciting. You didnt know if he was going to dribble out the shot clock, shoot a 20ft turning fade-away, get the ball stolen, go strong to the basket, etc. Whatever you could think of(negative&positive) he can do any given night. Flip was always a trip.

Actually, my version of 2k8 still has Eddie Griffin on the free agents list. Overall ranking of 79 too. In Dynasty mode some team always signs him and I feel bad if I dunk over him or something.
