Nets Waive Magloire
February 22, 2008 - 5:18 pm
Press Release -
The New Jersey Nets have requested waivers on center Jamaal Magloire, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.

Magloire, who signed with the Nets on July 17, 2007, played in 24 games this season, averaging 1.8 points and 3.4 rebounds. The eight-year pro holds career averages of 8.7 points and 7.3 rebounds in 530 NBA games

Anybody think the Jazz have a chance to snag him before dallas?

Or do we even want him? I think he would do a nice job spelling Okur and Boozer.

I think that the big question is; would he give us more then Jarron? I think he would. The only problem is can we get him and what will it cost. I think that we are a center away from being a shoe-in for the Championship. I think that we can do it with what we have know but I think that D minded Center would make us unstoppable (in a best of 5 or 7 game playoff round). I am sure that this is not news to anyone here but it makes me feel better to get it off my chest. Thank you.

The thing about Magloire is that he's not a defensive minded center. He'll play solid defense if he gets touches on offense, but he's not a guy who will be content just playing defense and rebounding without being involved on offense. That being said, if we could get him, I'd be willing to take a chance on him. He does have good size and some talent.

Wasnt he an All Star once? How come his numbers dropped so much?

And the big question is: Why The Nets waived him? hmm

Nets waived him because there is no reason to keep him, they are rebuilding and he does not fit in their long term plans(obviously) they have sooo many bigs allready.

If he's worse than Jason Collins, I doubt we go after him.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I think we already tried to sign him but he went to Jersey instead.

Magloire has fallen a long way...hard to believe he was ever an all-star. He's one of those guys that just looks like they forgot how to play basketball, and how to be interested in playing hard. I can't see Sloan having any tolerance for him whatsoever.

It really depends on what it would take to get this guy. He seems like a low risk/high reward guy. I think with the right motivation he could be a decent bench player. Our back up center is 6'6" with shoes on, while I like millsap, and his defense, the guy is too short to guard centers in this league. The jazz literally need a greg ostertag type player, nothing more. A guy who will just clog the lane.

Magloire likely going to Mavericks

Interesting that he is likely going to the Mavs. Sounds like there was another deal made behind closed doors just this time nobody put their foot in their mouth.

No kidding... first Stack and now Magloo...

I don't know yet, but what Kidd has done to the Mavs is kinda scary. I am glad that if we play the Mavs, we only need Kirilenko on Nowitzki and it is game over.
