Game Thread: Portland Trailblazers @ Seattle Supersonics

Post#1 » by Det the Threat » Fri Feb 22, 2008 3:36 pm

After losing last night, shorthanded, to the Blazers, the Sonics will head home and meet them again, in a back-to-back matchup of the two I-5 rivals. The Sonics played very well, but couldn't keep up till the end and therefore lost their 39 game of the year.

They also lost center Robert Swift, who sprained his right knee and most likely will miss some time. Francisco Elson or Mo Sene should take his spot in the rotation, as long as Swift is out.

The Sonics will also still be shorthanded tonight, because Donyell Marshall, the great Ira Newble and Adrian Griffin aren't expected to be in uniform.

When and Where?

Friday, February 22nd, 7:30 p. m. PT, Key Arena, Seattle, Washington

This game will be broadcasted by FSN NW in HD

I know why Nate moved Martel to the bench, because the second unit needs a three point shooter, but I don't like it. I think Jack is much better as a 6th man. Nate shouldn't change the first and second units because Jones is down. I also think that Jack and Outlaw can provide sufficient three point shooting for the second unit. They won't be better than Jones, but not much worse than Webster. One of the reasons not to have Jack in the starting lineup, also, is because the backcourt gets really small. Jack is very undersized for a SG, as is Roy for SF. They will be undersized against Durant and Green.

Got to watch the game yesterday, is anyone else like me and done a complete backflip on Earl? I really like the way he has been playing recently, love the way he was driving to the hoop.

Hopefully Wilcox can stay out of foul trouble, and Petro keeps up his good play.

the way watson has been playing the last two weeks, IF he could keep that up and maintain it for a whole season, what more could you ask for from your starting point guard?

Come on there is nothing wrong with a little Wally man-love.

Hopefully Mikky G gets some more time on the court. Wat does Elson look like out there? Is he gonna be getting much game time now that Swift is out? I would personally rather have Mo Sene playing.

Well, the sonics beat the Blazers, I hope you all are happy! As much as I hate the sonics as a Blazers fan (sorry guys), I'm sorry about your situation with your owners and hope that something can happen so the I-5 rivalry will stay alive. No fan deserves what's been thrown at you sonics fans.

Wow, great win...plus I win $5 from a Blazers fan at work. Entertaining game to watch. I was suprised with how they moved the ball around. Calabro made a good point about the offense becoming predictible when Thomas was in and you got a steady dose of pick and roll. I wouldn't have guessed we would win a game that Durant scored less than 20. That left handed hook by Green was sweet. Made me want to yell Shapoopi but the wife was sleeping and I would have been seriously in the doghouse. Elson looked servicable as well and Wilcox actually played some D. Curious to see how many minutes the new guys get and how the gel in to the team.

I went to the game tonight and it was freakin awsome.

I love Petro. He played very well tonight with the limited minutes he got.

Elson is going to be a decent addition but is he going to stick around? I think what you see is what you get with the guy. Not much up side but at least he is servicable. I'd still like to see some Sene

Gelly played well, Wilcox had a couple thunder dunks that simply made me laugh. Damn that guy has hops.

For a change I actually had some sweet seats and man those guys get up everything is way above the rim. There is only one reason for Wilcox not being an All-Star every single year. Himself! I like the guy but he simply lacks motivation. He is so incredibly pyhsically gifted it is a joke and the fact that he is only as good as he currently is, is a shame in my book.

Green still needs to learn how to shoot but made a few buckets towards the end of the game. Durant took it hard to the rack tonight which was nice to see.

Travis Outlaw could be really good if he wants to be.

Roy has unexpected hops that sneek up on you.

Martell Webster pouts a lot.

Martell on the break was running in front of his man and Jack didn't give him the ball. He practically threw a hissy fit on the court.

Then when he got the ball he bricked it. My buddy who is a Portland fan yells out "that's why you never get the ball Webster".

Sonics went wire to wire with this game I think that is just the second time that has happened this season.

All and all good game.

Will you be able to get the same seats when it comes time to pay off our bet? :)

At the beginning of the year, it looked like it was going to be Webster's breakout season. Not yet.

Jack, Blake & Roy starting together? Too small.
