Bynum to the bench

Post#1 » by tnayrbrocks » Sat Feb 23, 2008 7:16 am

Anyone else think Phil will do this? I think Bynum going to the bench when he comes back makes sense...Our starting line-up as it is dominating teams but replacing Mbenga with Bynum for our 2nd unit will put opposing teams under constant attack. Any thoughts?

i think he's going to be coming off the bench the first couple of games, then ease is way back to the starting lineup

It should work. Bynum will need a few games to get his stamina back. Besides, he started to played more minutes up to his injury. He should be great coming off the bench once again.

Definitely... That will allow him to integrate back into the system and game shape slowly, no need to rush things... He will get a lot of minutes with Pau though to see how they fit together on offense... He will most likely come off the bench for his first 5-10 games back

Fisher/Farmar
Kobe/Sasha
Radman/Luke
Lamar/Turiaf
Pau/Bynum

When the playoffs start, we should be ready to go with

Fisher/Farmar
Kobe/Sasha
Radman/Luke/Ariza (all 3 will hopefully be 100% by then)
Pau/Ronny
Bynum/Mihm

^ I doubt Mihm will be back. I see Daco there instead of Mihm

Before I opened this thread, I though Bynum was going to join the Lakers on the bench now. I know he does not travel with the team now. :x

I'd like to see Jackson tweak the rotation to where there's always at least either Gasol or Bynum on the floor. There shouldn't be too many moments where they're both off the floor.

i think with gasol and kobe the lakers play at a faster pace, i dont know if getting bynum back makes the lakers better, wouldnt he just clog the lane for gasol?

Maybe in transition or on the second brake. Other then that they will play High low post strong side weak side.

I've mentioned the possibility that it might not be as seamless of a transition period for Gasol and Bynum to mesh together.

I've used Randolph and Curry as an example of how difficult it is to acclimate two low post players together.

Except that Bynum's or Gasol's as*holes have higher IQ than both Randolph and Curry together, not to talk about work ethic... I

Pau has always during his career in Memphis asked for a center so he could move to PF, now that he has a good one i dont think there is any chance that both on the court would be a problem, prolly offensively they'll need some time to match together and bynum will have to leave the paint sometimes so gasol can play 1on1 against the PF, but defensively both will improve a lot.

Except Gasol is excellent also in high post and has better range than Randolph (not to mention him being also more versatile and all other advantages of the Lakers duo) - so it's not such a problem.

Actually, Pau is a PF and spent his best years there. He was a center only recently, out of necessity, and even it changed once Grizzlies acquired Milicic. Gasol is a player in KG's mold: he can be a C, but is better in different role.

Bynum will probably come off the bench until the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Drewski will definitely be benched I'd say, in his first 5 - 7 games after returning. We need to first if he has the same fire he had before the injury. Also it's a fatigue problem because 2 months of absence will a affect his physical condition.
