NOTE TO AINGE: SIGN BONES!!!

Post#1 » by ddb » Sat Feb 23, 2008 12:02 am

I'll admitt it....I have a man-crush on Brent Barry. I would rather have Bones Barry then Sam Cassell. He's PERFECT for this Celtics team. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE sign Brent Barry!

Pros- can shooter, good locker room guy, funny, runs the break, unselfish, high bball iq, championship experience.

Cons- THERE ARE NONE! for what we'd be paying him there are no cons.....

I LOVE BRENT BARRY!

Sign him! He'll come here.

Both of these guys would be a great addition to the team. However Sam hasn't been bought out. One thing about Barry is hr does has versatility he an play the one, two or three. Sam though is the better player overall but since Barry is a free agent we need to go get him.

so will cassell, who i like better as a PG, and has prior experience/friendship with KG and Ray.

pretty much fits everything you like about barry but no man crush or former dunk championship

Why would Barry go anywhere but the spurs? It makes no sense. Forget aboutt Barry, Cassell is our realistic option...

Barry is a better fit with Boston. Again we are talking about a back up pg. Beyond the ability to do that better than anyone we have he is 6'6", a good defender, and a great shooter.

Health is the question.

Again I don't want to replace Rondo. If you do then Sam is your guy.

I wouldnt mind Barry or Cassell. One thing I prefer about Cassell, I think he is better at creating for others and himself. Tonight is the type of game that we could use Cassell asserting himself offensively.

Both guys have rings. Barry was a great fantasy player for me (I caught his mid-career breakout year perfectly).

But Cassell is the better player, the one who fills a bigger need, and the one who has prior relationships with 2/3 of our stars.

Barry on way?

NBA sources said last night that the Celtics are poised to make a move on Brent Barry if and when he clears waivers.

It is the second time the C

I would love this to happen as well. He brings a lot more to the table than House.

he's sour towards the spurs. there's a good chance he's going back and getting healthy during his 30 days off but i really feel like a team like boston would have a chance at getting barry. he would be flattered to have another good team interested.

he would be perfect

We could only get him after his injury, which will be in a week from now. By that time we will now if Cassell will be ours. We have to show constant interest in him, and if Cassell doesn't get bought out, we need to strike!

Eddie House has been great for us this year. He's not shooting well the last few games, but he's been very consistent from deep over the season. His defense is also much better than advertised. Cassell would be an upgrade, but let's not trash the players we have.

I don't see us getting Cassell, the Cavs have more money than we can offer and I believe the Cav's would pay him more money for him, so he didnt join this team.

Barry would be a very nice complement to this team, but somehow I don't see him going anywhere but back to the Spurs.

I am afraid the trade deadline has passed and nothing but The Birdman for us to sign.

The Celtics have let their interest in Brent Barry be known, but there is concern around the club that the soon-to-be free agent guard will choose to play for a contender closer to home in the West. According to league sources, the Celts are now a step behind Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston in the race for his services, but that could change.

An NBA source said the Celtics have contacted representatives for waived guards Brent Barry and Flip Murray.

Barry, who is coveted by several teams, actually becomes an unrestricted free agent at 10 a.m. Tuesday, assuming he clears waivers.

So we are after Barry. Maybe Cassell doesn't get bought out, after all? Still I hope we get Bones.

Barry is no longer a good defender, IMO. In the few SA games I've seen over the past couple of years, he seems to be a target for iso's on defense, FWIW.

That said. I would rather see Barry than Cassell. With this team, Rondo, Pierce, Allen, Garnett, TA have/need the ball in their hands to be effective, another shooter would be a huge plus.
