[myfoxhou]Rockets offer Barry 2 year contract

Post#1 » by tmacformvp07 » Sat Feb 23, 2008 7:59 am

HOUSTON -- Within minutes of the Seattle SuperSonics releasing guard Brent Barry Friday, the Houston Rockets were on the phone with Barry's agent, Arn Tellem, offering a two-year deal.

"We are offering the maximum allowed on a two-year contract," said Daryl Morey, Rockets General Manager. "We are in full pursuit."

And not just in the figurative sense. The Rockets are literally going after Barry.

"Coach (Rick) Adelman and I plan to go to San Antonio and meet with Brent," Morey said. "We want to give him the full treatment."

Big help shooting wise. But I am sure he'll want to go back to the Spurs. At least we did everything we could to get him.

There's a lot of teams going after him like DEN and GS to name a few. But I actually think we have a decent chance. Obviously SA is the frontrunner but if for some reason he doesn't go back to SA (i.e. he doesn't want to wait the 30 days or the league watches this situation closely) then I think HOU is the next likely target. We have a need for a shooter and have a very similar system to SA, plus we're a Texas team where he lives.

i don't think spurs are going to give him 2 years, maybe he'll find our offer more attractive. If he doesn't come, he probably has hard feelings we sent his brother to espn lol .
