Carl Landry is the Next Big Thing in NBA

You heard it here first folks, I think this guy is going to be special and have a fantastic future in the league....if you've seen him play you know what im talking about, he is the real deal imo..my fav move of his is his double pump dunk anytime he wants to in traffic...what are yours?

he is 6' 9" 248 lbs and 24 Years Old, but dont let those numbers fool you, he is atheltic and nasty, and if he doesnt wanna finish with a jam, he can take you out and shoot the mid range j

I'll take a 6'11" 22 year old over Landry.

He's good, but no, he is not the "next big thing".

Landry is good but what do you mean the next big thing?
He can be a very good starting pf someday even.
Extremely strong and athletic , great finisher around the basket , very good rebounder and has a very reliable mid range jumper.
He plays defense and rebounds , finishes around the basket and hits open jumpers , great fuir for the Rockets.

I know. I said he was a beast in the Suns - Lakers - Rockets thread and some people laughed at me and said I was stupid.

Anyway, this kid is dynamic. At first I thought he played huge for a guy listed at 6-7 or 6-8 so I did some checking much be old listings. He's listed at 6-7 3/4 barefoot (which makes him around 6-9 in just about any in-game sneaker) by his draft measurement and the Rockets had him at 6-8 3/4 in his gym shoes in their workout.

He's listed at 245 or 248 but the Rockets listed him at 253 in their workout.

So he's listed at 6-7 245 or 6-8 248 but he's really more like 6-9 253. So he's actually not undersized at all really. That's pretty decent for a PF.

His draft workout had him with a 37 inch vertical and then I found where he was "still recovering from his knee surgery at that time" and that now that he is "fully recovered" he has a 41 INCH VERTICAL!

A 6-9 253 with a 41 INCH VERTICAL!

But this guy is no Stro Swift he has a B-Ball IQ, he gets it, he knows exactly how to play the game. He's a great fit with Yao and McGrady. Guy is quick, he's a great rebounder, solid shot blocker, he dunks everything. Every time he just dunks it, never goes up weak.

This guy should have been picked way high in the draft, what a steal.

You know who this guy reminds of? Antonio McDyess BEFORE the injuries. I used to love to watch Dice play back in the day when he was with the Nuggets before all the injuries. This Landy kid really reminds me a lot of him.

Only thing with Landry is he seems just like Dice and Amare to have this same issue of the wear and tear on the knees from the style of play.

Landry has played awesome since cracking the rotation. He's going to cost the rockets though because I believe he signed very late with the rockets cause they couldn't agree on a contract and the rockets ended up giving him only a one year deal, instead of the standard 2 years for 2nd round picks.

Landry has been playing great lately, he's probably the best finisher on the team. I wouldn't go so far as to call him the next big thing though.... most of his points are a direct result of teams paying so much attention to Yao or Tmac.

but the most important thing is he HUSTLES, not only that, he has a knack for where the ball is going to come down and he just outfights the other team for it.

He's better than Milsap already, IMO he could be an All Star one day.

i can't wait till David Lee isn't on my **** team that we call the New York Bricks so you can appreciate how much better he is than Milsap and Landry. Lee on a NBA team and not an AND-1 team is just scary. I'm a die-hard knick fan, but 1 more year like this, and I am fully supporting trading David Lee to a real team so his career isn't wasted. David Lee on the Rockets next to Yao would be a problem.

the kid has been so solid. i like to think of him as our very own amare/d12 lite. if he can get some solid postmoves/footwork, he'll be a starter for years to come.

He has foul problems. Those are the games he usually "disappears". He hasn't been getting much in the way of flop calls, so he's been picking up a bunch of blocking fouls, severely limiting his minutes. He's still playing like a baller when he's out on the court though.
