08 2nd Round pick

Indiana approves
We get younger, less salary, quicker, and we add a 2nd rounder in a deep draft.
Warriors Accept. GSW Fans/Nellie don't really like him. We need more of a bigger body, not a tweener

The Portland Trail Blazers and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed on a trade.
Courtesy of The Oregonian
Portland Receives:
Jake Voskuhl
Yi Jian Lian
Portland Outgoing:
Travis Outlaw
Martell Webster
Portland's 2nd Round Pick (Belong to the New York Knicks)
Milwaukee Receives:

Martell Webster
Portland's 2nd Round Pick (Belong to the New York Knicks)
Milwaukee Outgoing:
Jake Voskuhl
Yi Jian Lian
Trade ID# 4495583
The Trail Blazers have decided to head in a new direction, giving Roy, Iguodala, and Oden a legitimate hybrid forward to help them spread the floor. Although Yi cannot replace Aldridge's "pure" post offense, he gives the Trail Blazers greater marketability in a small basketball market. The Oregonian was able to catch the GM of the Trail Blazers after the trade went down.
"Talks previously were broken down after the league decided to nullify a previous attempt at us acquiring Yi, we never gave up and eyed Yi as a target as soon as Aldridge was dealt."
"What this trade does for us is allow a distinct foundation of marketable players, the behemoth of Oden, the athleticism of Iggy, the leadership and competitiveness of Roy, and now, the hidden treasure of the '07 draft, Yi"
The Trail Blazers will miss the athleticism of Outlaw and Webster, but feels that can be addressed with further trades down the road.
"Travis and Martell will become very effective players in the East, they want to prove they are not simply tweeners on a young team." quoted a coach on the Portland staff.
Calls to the Milwaukee GM were not immediately returned.

The Knicks have decided to release Jared Jeffries. I like Jeffries and I would have happily kept him the fact is that he isn't as productive as his salary would warrent and with my teams glut at small foward it doesn't seem as if he'll have the opportunity to improve in that regard. It also made him absolutley impossible to trade so the move has to be made. It also gives me an extra roster spot in case a player making the minimum is released.

you mean you have waived him?
and can someone clarify, what is time limit for waivers? I mean how long does a player have before he clears waivers?

Alright, a couple new rules regarding this:
1. If you are waiving him, he still counts against your cap. (New York)
2. The waiver time is 48 hours, we're not going to get into previous records so the first team to lay claim on a player gets him. But remember:
God bless Larry Coon.

A team can claim a waived player only if one of the following is true:
* The team is far enough under the salary cap to fit the player's entire salary.
* The team has a Disabled Player exception for at least the player's salary (see question number 19).
* The team has a Traded Player exception for at least the player's salary (see question number 69).
* The player's contract is for one or two seasons and he is paid the minimum salary.
God bless Larry Coon.

I guess I have to waive him right. I can't say I bought him out so that someone else can just sign him to a contract ala Steve Francis (Blazers buy him out and Houston signs him). It just sucks because I think he's a good player and unless Golden State decides to pick up his contract for some crazy reason he'll just won't exist in the league anymore.
are we allowed to release players willingly? I mean, I could've just done that with Darius Miles....
I don't see why you would think you couldn't waive anyone willingly. If you can trade people willingly you should be able to waive them. Its just a transaction in which you get rid of someone without getting any compensation in return.

I would try to stick away from buyouts, since those are negotiated between player-team. It would just get too complicated.
Toronto and Seattle have reached a deal:
To Toronto:
Kurt Thomas $8.09M
Damien Wilkins $2.90M
2008 Denver 2nd
Total Salaries $10.99M
To Seattle:
Shelden Williams $3.17M
Jorge Garbajosa $4.00M
Maceo Baston $1.83M
2008 Toronto 1st (top-3 protected, unprotected 2009)
Total Salaries $9.00M
(9.00 x 1.25) + .1 = 11.35 > 10.99
Toronto accepts.
