Good, he needs to keep it up, this team needs him more than he probably realizes it. If we don't get solid play from our backcourt we're finished!!

So he had a good game. I didn't say he sucked. But I still say he's not too special. His last game came largely because of good back court help/set up. I like his hustle, but there are still skills and physical attributes he lacks which limit him and prevent him from being a legitimate/primary center or even PF in the league. Maybe 'overrated' is not the word, but i still maintain what is on the list.

I think josh is doing very well. Are there skills he needs to work on? Absolutly. He need to improve his FT's. He needs to develope a little 8-12 foot shot. If he can do that he will have a long careeer in the NBA.
As far as being special. Lets be honest how many guys really are special? Not everybody out there is Micheal Jordan. Lets not forget last season he had shoulder surgery and missed a lot of time. Look at how far his game has come under these circumstances. I say wait and see.

You know what would make me feel a lot better about Josh Boone. If he sucks at FT...ok fine. And if he's just not strong enough to play that kinda D, that's ok too. But if he could only catch the ball down low and just go up and try to dunk it on someone's head. Just the aggression is lacking. To use a Mark Jackson phrase, i'd like him to "play with force."
That extends into my next qualm: Weak hands. GRAB the ball. He's gotten it batted away by nonchalant swipes enough times to know he can't be casual with it. If it's your board, your shot, if it's YOURS, then grab it like you want it and protect it.
Basically if i didn't have to feel so insecure when he had the ball, I would love this guy because he is playing well in most other aspects...even free throws, relatively.

I'll admit that I haven't been watching the Nets regularly before the Swift trade, though I did watch them in the playoffs last season, and I have to agree about Boone's lack of aggression.
Stromile Swift showed more aggression in his few minutes of action with the Nets than I've seen from Boone in all his minutes put together... Yet Stromile appears to be the odd man out....
In the eyes of the coaching staff, yes I think Boone is absolutely overrated!

yes, overrated was the wrong word...as mentioned earlier...it is his sophmore season...and what we're getting from him today is lot more than I ever expected...if you want to get on him about certain aspects of his game...I understand, there are shortcomings...but lets be realistic, you're talking about a kid, who hasnt even played a season of NBA basketball...he's learning on the fly and to be quite honest, we are asking a lot from him...maybe too much at this juncture of his career...I look at the situation as being happy with what you get...
improvement comes with time...some like to talk about Boone as say a starting center, or possible double-double player in this league...I say, lets not get ahead of ourselves...
take it easy on the kid, and dont go drawing up fantasy predictions about his game...time will tell...but lets not jump to conclusions so fast, one way or another...

It's only Boone's second season. To call him overrated is a bit of an overstatement. Nobody is saying he will be the next Carlos Boozer. Right now, Josh is doing pretty darn well for someone in his second year in the league. I am happy with the progress he has made from college to the NBA(I was a big fan of Uconn when they had Okafor, Marcus and Josh, which is why I was so happy and stoked when the Nets drafted both on draft night). Many on the board projected him to be an A-Train type of player. I see him being more productive then A-Train(no disrespect to Aaron Williams who was a fine roleplayer for us). I see Boone somewhere along the lines of a PJ Brown.

Honestly though the scouting report on him was something along the lines of an athletic rebounder/finisher? i'd say that was a little overstatement as well.
The skills are not relaly what im talking about though. I wish he was just a little more like brendan haywood if anything. What skills does that guy have? None. But he's mean.
