Brian Cardinal got in his head, IMO (though a horrible shooting night didn't help either). Regardless, it's a bit of a concern. Hopefully, it's short-term frustration.

Either way, other posters are correct: Josh has to get back to being the glue guy and take a hint from the way Marion played with Nash. He has to realize he doesn't have to work as hard offensively to do the same amount of scoring. He needs to let Kidd do the work and just knock down the open shots, cut to the basket, and run with him.

To Josh's credit, though, I did see him make some fairly good passes against Memphis. He looked to pass more in that game than I've seen in awhile, despite his horrible "chucker" numbers.

Josh has a golden opportunity to take his game to another level if he plays this out right. He hasn't had the opportunity to play with a true PG for most of his career so he has learned to create for himself. Now he has that true PG that can get him the ball so he will have to adjust his game which I think will actually make him a better player.

Howard will probably benefit the most by the Kidd trade but it may take him the longest to adapt. If he does, he could be something special as an all around player.

You guys need to trade Howard for someone who attacks the basket in the offseason if he doesn't change his game .

He needs to play like RJ does in Jersey or he's useless with Kidd .

Josh Howard's problem is not merely about B-ball IQ right now.
Mario Ellie talks about Drexler's trade in 1995. It implies that Josh hold a pretty unfriendly relationship with Kidd coz he's the reason for the departure of Devin and Gana.

But I don't think the emotion would last long. Josh is a warrior who plays through injuries in playoff. I expect him to take his emotion down soon and play like Josh Howard again.

Dantay Jones sounds like what you guy are looking for. He's a solid defender who don't have a jump shot. He can get to the basket. Ask Cuban if he can get him cheap.

I would be fine with Magloire, Justin Williams, and Dahntay Jones. And then, we should send a thank you card to Mike Bibby.

Then, we have:
C - Dampier / Magloire / J. Williams
PF - Nowitzki / B.Bass / Juwan Howard
SF - Josh Howard / D.George / A.Wright
SG - J. Terry / J. Stackhouse / D.Jones
PG - J. Kidd / J.J.Barea / E.Jones

Of course, you should cut Malik Allen to make it happen.

"Damp's defense on Jefferson in the second half pretty much won the game. We couldn't guard him in the first half. So between Damp and Kidd, and what Josh did in the second half defensively, was very good for us... Josh was battling a little food poisoning. He still gutted out 38 minutes for us (even though) he wasn't feeling well. He should be feeling better at home when he gets some home cooking."

I didnt' know a bad back and food poisoning causes you to shoot 27 shots, then 18 shots and miss most of them.

Avery babies Josh like he does Stackhouse. Devin (when he was here) and Dirk never get that same amount of excuses from Avery.

I understand Josh is not 100%, but his bad shot selection and jumper-happying playing style has been this why all season long.

But the thread raise an issue - what if Josh Howard disappears all of a sudden. Who deserves minutes when Josh goes down.

EJ sounds old to me. He can't play much mintues. DG sounds inconsistent with his jumper and can't matchup well with quicker guards. AW is raw and inexperience. Stack doesn't have a skillset to stop anyone. JET, oh, come on. You can't teach size and altheticism.

Who would get PT if Josh doesn't? As much as you dislike George, he's the undesirable but probable choice. Can he competes with elites in playoff? I don't think so.

At least play Wright. See what he's got. If he hustles, plays decent D and can finish around the rim, that already makes him infintely better than Eddie Old Bones Jones and George.

josh needs to snap out of whatever funk he is in right now or he'll see himself being shipped out for marion or even jermaine oneal in the offseason...

somebody needs to bitch slap josh back to reality... a couple of weeks more and its the playoffs, we dont have a lot of time to be hanging around and waiting for him to suck it up...

I'm already anticipating the Howard for Marion rumors if Dallas doesn't make it to the finals.

I'm all for that type of trade if we don't have to give up too much other than Howard.

Howard/George (S&T)/Barea???

How is RJ's D? I never though of him as a good defender, but I never really payed to much attention to it either.

Avery needs to give him contacts where he cannot see beyond 10 feet. This is ridiculous that he suddeenly thinks he is a jump shooter. He has been a slasher and junk man. Now he is finley who can play some D
