You Know The NBA Is Fallen Off When People

Post#1 » by MonstaGame05 » Mon Feb 25, 2008 7:18 am

Say that they take Manu over D Wade.C`mon I seriously doubt that Manu could take over a series by himself they way Wade did in the 2006 Finals. So now that he is on some incredible run now he on D Wade,Kobe,or even T-Mac and Lebron`s level>?? So i guess what`s next is that Manu will surpass Jordan.

Talent wise, every player you mentioned is better then Manu. But Manu is the in the top 3 three of shooting guards in the league. Manu never takes bad shots, never forces anything, is money from downtown when the game is on the line. He is also a great facilitator in the Spurs offense, he drives to the basket just as good as Kobe does. The only area where Manu is lacking is a post game. Manu is really that good, he just doesn't play the minutes and is surrounded by two players of equal stature to himself, and he respects that, so his stats aren't padded or overwhelming. But he is one of the best shooting guards in the league.

The commentators didn't mention Bryant, McGrady, and James today.

Besides, for you to assume that an entire sport has "fallen off" because of a comment that a few people make is a bit hasty.

If you're a Wade fan, then be a Wade fan. No need to worry about the entire league because of an opinion.

Not sure I understand this thread. Manu is playing well. Give him his props and keep it moving. Wade sure looks impressive leading his team to a 1-26 record right now. *rolleyes*

Before I go on just know that I do think that the Bulls Dynasty is better then the Spurs one. However to try to discredit the team that you have to go through year in and year out is completly laughable. The Spurs have a respectful Dynasty going on down there that no one can discredit or claim "So Called".

 at people who'd take ginobili...

It's obvious the heat are tanking so I see no reason to judge a PLAYER because his TEAM sucks...

I'd love to see Manu take a a team of:

C-Blount
PF-Haslem
SF-Davis
PG-Williams

to the playoffs...

I remember what happened on realgm after the first 2 games of 2005 NBA finals.
There were threads "Manu or Jordan", "Manu or West", "Manu or Bird".

Current Manu hype doesnt come close to Manu hype(summer 2005)

People have misconception about Manu having less talent compared to wade. Only talent that ginobli lacks compared to wade is having flashy dunks or between the leg dribles other than that the dude is damn good slasher, three point shooter, fake, and solid defender.

Ginobili's playing efficiently while only playing 31 mins a game. It's not like Van Gundy said he's better than Kobe, Lebron or Jordan like the TC is insinuating. Don't know why some fans are so angry to see commentators praising him for his current play:

GINOBILI'S LAST 5 GAMES
Manu Ginobili scored 30 points, shooting 10 for 18 from the floor, in the Spurs' 98-89 victory over the Hornets, as San Antonio pulled even with New Orleans at 37-17. Get a load of how well Ginobili has been playing: Ginobili, over his last five games, has now scored 172 points, while making 55 of 86 field-goal attempts (64 percent). Only one NBA player since the year 2000 has scored as many points with as high a shooting percentage over any five-game span; that was Shaquille O'Neal, who with the Lakers in March 2002, had a five-game stretch in which he scored 177 points while shooting 69.5 percent from the floor. That's it.
By the way, prior to Shaq, you have to go back to 1996 to find the last such instance of a player scoring and shooting as well as Ginobili over a period of five games. (Hakeem Olajuwon had 172 points and a 65-percent shooting stretch over a five-game span late in the 1995-96 season.)

Of course, talent-wise, he's nowhere near guys like Wade/Tmac/etc but he's playing damn good right now so of course the experts are going to give him props. Hell, they were comparing Wade to MJ after the '06 Finals so I don't know why the TC's so upset. Wade got his dues when he won his championship but you can't expect the experts to compliment someone when their team has the worst record in the league.

so you don't think manu (who is considered the 3rd option on his team and at time come off the bench) wouldn't put up better number if he was made the team first option and play 40 min a game?

Dunk over 3 Lakers: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Db123b2UZxg

Check his playoff log: Basketball-Reference.com : Manu Ginobili

Ginobili is just a very intelegent player. He plays on both ends of the court, not known as a lock down defender; but he never gives up on a play. He's a perfect compliment to Duncan and Parker, on both ends. He has a deceptively quick first step (similar to Wade, it is where most of his hops come from), can shoot from distance and mid-range, and he plays efficient within the Spurs offense. He doesn't demand touches or shots, he just makes plays.

Give Manu his due. He's stepped up when San Antonio was missing Parker and he IS playing the 2nd best ball for a SG right now. And I don't see how you can argue TMac over him at this point. Between those two there's not a doubt who I'd rather have play in the clutch or in the playoffs. He plays smart, tough and efficient ball. And he even plays defense. Here's how Manu's numbers would look if he played 36 mins a game like most 'stars'

46%/42%/84%
24 points, 5.8 boards, 5.4 dimes, 2 steals, 0.5 blocks

Might not make the playoffs but definitely more than 9 wins right now.
