Why don't Suns use Shaq in the post?

Using Shaq in the high post is like turning Peyton Manning into a running quarterback. It just doesn't make sense. It doesn't take rocket science to know how to use Shaq. Let him seal off his man and get good post position and throw him the ball. He'll either dunk it, get fouled, or create open shots from sagging defenders.

He will mostly get fouled and convert 1 of 2 on the line if he's lucky. That's just bad offense if the Suns have to rely on Shaq's FTs.

you guys shouldn't always go to shaq in the post to score when he is on the floor...utilize him in other ways..
for starters
...stop sending him on high pick and rolls..it's painful to watch how slow he rolls to the basket.
...let him pick and roll with amare at the free throw line or anywhere near...that could result in a amare dunk or dish to oneal for the jam or put back by oneal.
...iso shaq in the post with the ball and runs off-ball screens to free up your shooters, like nash, barbosa, and hill...do the same with amare.
...and when you have miss matches with shaq...let him do work.
...and with shaq out the game...run your regular offense.
yall have alot to work on...i hope DA doesn't keep on doing what i have seen so far...i like shaq and don't want to see him look terrible so out there.

I agree..using Shaq in the high screens is not going to make him effective. In order for those to work, the big man needs to have a jumpshot from that range.
Diaw I have to admit looks like the guy who is trying to get Shaq involved the most, and has the right idea about that. You let Shaq establish position in the low post without the ball, then all you need to do is get the ball to him. If he has position, he's either getting a dunk, and/or going to the foul line.
I noticed there were a lot of easy buckets that we could have gotten during the past few games... where Amare drives on the pick and roll, draws 2 defenders in the paint and then tried to lay it up and missed it. Shaq was on the weakside wide open, all Amare needed to do was make a wrap around pass for a dunk.

Shaq claimed the Suns wouldn't have to adjust to him, he would adjust to them. He was absolutely wrong. The team is going to have to adjust to him if he is going to play heavy minutes. It's a two-way street.
-- What he meant was he was more interested in changing his game to give the team what it needed, not them accommodating their game to him. Defensive presence, boards and outlet for the break, and if the break isn't there he will be a presence that demands doubleteams -
Working him into the halfcourt set is what will take some adjustment. Despite the last game, I think it will work.

reading this thread bring tears to my eyes --- we have the recipe to be really successful once Shaq is the game, and we have the recipe to run when Shaq is out.
Diveristy, will win us alot of games. Teams wont know how to respond to our weapons. If Shaq still has it, then we have to utilize his offensive post skills routinely, make the league and the its refs respect his dominance once more. Shaq is a carreer 60% field goal shooter, it wont change --- bottom line, I'd rather dump the ball to Shaq for a 60% chance of going in, than an open 3 with 40-50% chance of going in.
And its easy. were struggling with our shots, or we are facing a pestering defense like the Pistons, we dump the ball to Shaq -- and he'll either put up the points at a 60%, or free up easy shots for Amare and Nash at a 40-50% clip.
