Post#1 » by NEM » Mon Feb 25, 2008 6:50 pm

it looks like we'll be getting somewhere between 20 and 23, who do you think we'll pick up...if love and ogilvy declare, you think they'll slip that far? im sure we will go after a big man...roy hibbert or hasheem thabeet? anyone see them slipping that far? it seems like this draft is loaded with bigs...your thoughts?

THABEETT!!!

Seriously though this kid has Defense like a young Mutumbo, with a better offensive game.

He will be a steal

In addition to Thabeet, these two guys fall into the Magic's draft range (according to DraftExpress) and seem to fit in w/need...

Ryan Anderson/

Brandon Rush]
I like Rush despite not being an avid NCAA fan.

The way Otis drafts, I think he'll lean towards college pedigree. Historically the Magic SHOULD draft tweener bangers (a la Paul Milisap or Carlos Boozer) or proven college swingmen (like Josh Howard). These seem to yield the most successful results in the latter 3rd of the 1st round.

i dont know, thabeet seems pretty appealing to me and imagine a frontline of him and dwight, that's about 14 feet and 2 inches of shot blocking downlow

Not changing this sig until Magic win a championship. Started 6/26/2015.

Thabeet and Love will be gone by then, likely Ogilvy too. Hibbert will be long gone as well. Off the top of my head, Collison, Weaver, Rush, Bill Walker, DJ White, DeVon Hardin, Serge Ibaka all should be around and all make a decent amount of sense. We may be able to use JJ to move up a couple spots too, which may be helpful if we like Weaver or Collison who may well be gone by the time we pick.

I'm not a fan of Thabeet really...and honestly i think he'll be gone by pick number 20

I hope Orlando picks up Devon Hardin. He's the type of guy and player the magic are looking for. Smart kid and defensive minded F-C to play next to dwight.

Hardin has a low basketball IQ and has regressed over the last year. Super raw on offense as well. I like him ok, but he is not the optimal pick.

Kostas Koufos (His name will be on repeat in every Draft post).
Just a matter of him still coming out, Greek stud.

Apparently JJ will be trade bait to move up a few spots in the 1st Round.

I think Thabeet could really use an extra year in college. he is awesome on defense (great shot blocker) and is improving on offense but needs that extra year to really learn how to be a good finisher. Either way, with his size he will definitely be gone by 20

Yeah i was thinking the same thing...Theres no way Thabeet would be around for us to take.

But, for what its worth, im seeing many mock drafts with him going in the 20's.

I think his experience may be a factor, but he is the best defensive player in the draft.

Also he has a clone in Roy Hibbert that should go before him because of his experience, and more polished offensive game so that should help us some.

Koufos likely won't be coming out in this draft.

Love will fit our team perfectly, but will be gone.

I like Anderson (from Cal), but with Cook, I doubt we'll draft him.

Knowing Otis and his drafting, my bet is that we'll draft DJ White or Joey Dorsey... :nonono:

I want to know about players flying under the radar that nobody really talks about. Any sleeper picks anybody like? Not really big on developing foreign players. I think we have had our fill of them. Im looking for some players we can send to our d-league affiliate if they cant make the squad. I like Jeremy Pargo (junior pg) if he comes out early from Gonzaga. 6-2 and will give it to u defesively as well as offensively. If u get a chance to watch him play check him out.

I also like Deron Washington out of VA Tech. (could be a Shawn Marion type) Athletic and jumps out of the building, plus he brings a little cockieness. U-tube him and check him out.

Also like Gransberry out of South Florida. One mock draft has the Magic getting him in the second round. Holla.

Marcelus Kemp could be a good 2nd round pick.
Worst case scenario = Bogans(IMO)

True if we get Fran this summer, then we probably will go for a PG then let Arroyo walk. Also we wont be as needed as far as PF goes because we will have Battie, Cook, Adonal, Fran, DH, maybe even Auggy what more do you need.

Shan Foster and Marcus Dove are IMO both 2nd rounders who will become very good pros.

I think Shan Foster might rise into the first round and I like him too. People will see how good he is when the tournements start up. As a matter of fact #14 Vandy plays #1 Tenn, Tuesday night on ESPN at 9pm et. I read up on Marcus Dove. I will pay closer attention to him. Defensive stopper with an improving offensive game so that is good. Really looking for role players (defensive and athletic) personally who can blossom into some good players. Somebody athletic enough to defend say Lebron, Wade, Arenas etc or at least make them work in the near future. Someone to tandem with Dwight on the boards. We need bulk in our lineup. The league is skinny. This draft is key for the Magic cause they have a chance to really rebuild/reload our team with picks from this draft. I think its deep if we pick right. Look at all the other teams in the east shuffling and reshuffling their rosters. Cleveland was reaching with that trade to me and Ben Wallace will be declining. Boston's and Detroit's core players will be getting up there in age. Knicks and Miami are getting ready to rebuild this off season. Lets get it together so we can dominate the East.
