Otis just has so many visible flaws in his tenure as GM it just baffles me that people still support the guy.

I think that Otis deserves an extension. I think that we are heading in the right direction. This not our year to win it all, but it is very important that we advance in the playoffs. Otis has a plan and is sticking to it. The Ariza trade that everyone howled about is working out well for us. I agree wit Otis that on keeping our first round pick rather than 'rent' Kurt Tomas for the rest of the year.

As to JMag, I think Otis knows what he is talking about. I truly believe that SVG is going to stick this front court (this year and next year)...even if Battie comes back, I don't see Hedo going to the bench...next season he and Rashard (& Dwight) may get slightly fewer minutes to keep them fresher for the long haul with Battie and hopefully Fran and Brian Cook producing more...it is the back court we need to address, especially point guard.

it baffles me that some people think because you aren't so head fro the hills that you are a die hard supporter...everyones a damn pecamist around here...you can't even wait it out...and so many people are far overplaying the negatives...i have never not once said Otis is without fault...never...I just try to come from a more realistic standpoint...but i get hounded, i am the zombie because i am trying to look at the big picture...

so many people in this world without flaw...

Well if those are the choices then I recant. All Hail Otis! Better to have Darth Vader than his young apprentice. I'd rather see Otis get 119 million.

But yeah what even Gato recalled of the TV program he saw indicates they were on the same page. Weis just wanted to hear the arguments for Dwight. So any way you slice it both had the input of the other. I think Otis would make an outstanding co GM.

How many times in a day can you be wrong?

A) The majority of posters on this board are not in love with Otis. NOt just Richboy and me.
B) you can't follow he instructions and be thinking outside the box (opposites)
AND
c) most importantly and most blasphemously of all I would never have a personal copy of NBA Live 08. I'm a 2K fan as is anyone with even an ounce of Intelligence

What if the instruction is to think outside the box?

Doesn't help. out of the box is throwing off not following the instructions. at any rate the NBA live 08 crack is the cheap shot.

This whole outside of the box thing .... is his office so small that he considers it a box? Further, does he feel claustrophobic so that he has to step out to relieve his feelings of the walls closing in? And when he's free of the feelings of claustrophobia is finally able to think of ways to improve the team?

Perhaps he should just move his office to a larger one? One would think that the GM of a professional team would have a decent sized office.

yes but once you do you are no longer following the rules so you are still caught in an inconsistency. Running something so obvious down is absurd so I'll cease and settle.

ya otis is definitely better than wies in that department and in picking up free agents

I don't know about that. Wasn't it Weisbrod that signed Hedo Turkoglu to a pretty team-friendly contract? I think Hedo's only making $6 million or thereabouts. A steal when you consider all he's done for this team.

I also don't buy any arguments that Weisbrod was talked into anything by Otis. If I remember Weisbrod's personality correctly, he pretty much did things his own way, end of story.

Not saying I like or dislike Otis as GM, just that I give him zero credit for anything that happened on Weisbrod's watch. Weisbrod gets credit for Dwight, Jameer, Hedo, et al, not Otis.

Yeah!! Who cares what Weis himself said and what was broadcast to potentially millions of viewers while still the GM? That should never be considered evidence to prove a point.

Good for you, thinking for yourself and ignoring the facts ...

Regardless, of any of that, I think that Weis made the final decisions seeing as how it was his butt on the lin with every move. I know that if I am at a risk of losing a high profile job like that, I am the one pulling the trigger on any moves, no matter how much I ask for other people's opinions.
