Ballings, what's the deal w/Childress? I see a few ppl have mentioned him as a possibility in the offseason. I've never actually seen him play. What's his game like?

Well, I actually haven't seen too much of him myself. Just when I notice him in full games and from seeing chunks and bits other times from Hawks games. Reading about him randomly.

But, I know he can do some of just about everything. He's pretty athletic, long, seems like he has smarts about him, can handle the ball and pass, not a bad rebounder, respectable finisher/slasher, has above-average defensive ability. Has a weird shooting form, but can shoot okay.

I didn't really have a feeling on him before recent months, but I've been getting to like him. I think he can be a good athletic utility player on a playoff team.

AJ:"I'm Western Conference," he said. "I'm Popovich. I'm for him, for Texas and for the Spurs."

(little late because I posted in the wrong board)

Got to love how we've played so far... I mean, 15 or 16 for 1! 16-5 Hawks end 1st q

:)

Hawks are actually one of the better defensve teams in the league. At least Kurt Thomas made his debut and did a couple nice things

WOW what a disgusting first quarter and I didn't even see it. 5 points?!?! They should all have to donate back today's salary for such a pathetic showing. Second quarter was better..but I expec spurs to come out on fire in the second half.

Kurt Thomas needs to play more, he's been the only consistent player so far..

Manu was due for a bad game..Parker and Duncan need to step up..Timmy's decision making has been poor so far..same with the entire team..Duncan passed an open shot off a Manu pass, which resulted in a turnover when he tried to pass it out of a double..Vaughn passed up an open shot to a contested Bowen, who made a terrible pass to Duncan..

the D has been fairly good at least..

need to make open shots..

Is it just me or has been TD turning the ball over a bit more as of late? Seems like he's been a bit careless with his passes lately. 5 turnovers at the half in this game?!?

definitely..he has been losing the ball a lot, and a lot of them aren't recorded because his teammates recover the ball..no idea why..

The Spurs' previous low in points for a quarter was eight, which they most recently had on Christmas Day in 2005 at Detroit. ... New addition Kurt Thomas played his first minutes as a Spur on Monday. The veteran, obtained in a trade from Seattle, scored four points and grabbed nine rebounds in 13 minutes.

It seems that my mancrush on Kurt Thomas is well placed. Surprisingly our terrible first quarter brought about laughter rather than fury.

Not pretty, but I don't care

Definitely a good debut for Kurt! - played tough defense and grabbed a bunch of rebounds. Had 2 blocks, also. Trade deadline complementary big man part deux (Nazr)? I'm thinking so. :)

He was a noticeable factor out there, and I love his presence.

Tony had a good game, and went to the basket more than ever since his return, can see the progress he's making. 9 assists. Looked to be moving pretty well.

Ime Udoka came in and just hit a bunch of shots for a nice game - he's definitely better and even more differing from Bowen than I thought he'd be. Also had 3 assists.

Tim had a pretty tough game with the Hawks front-line, but shot well from the line

Manu cooled off as expected eventually, but hit yet another big three to help seal the game. Better he be off tonight than against Dallas.

Continue to like Childress with what he showed tonight, 7 pts all in the 4th qtr, in two aspects of his game, all on leaping hustle points around the rim.

Horry with a 21 minute game

Bruce had a good night

That first quarter really made me gag. That said, the rest of the game went pretty well. Love how KT fit in so far...he'll be even better once he's familiar with the system. Manu was off, but it's unrealistic for him to be on fire every night...at least he did hit a few 3's. Tony looked really good in the 2nd half...rounding into form quite nicely.

Oh, and I really hope that we get Brent back...I vote for him taking all of Finley's minutes. ;)

I really like that Kurt got 9 boards in 13 min.

Parker seems to be coming back to game shape, he's starting to explode to the basket again.

Jesus, that first quarter had me furious, my wife had to tell me to calm down a bunch of times lol. Still we locked down on Atlanta and stil lwon the game. That's a championship mentality. Kurt was freaking awesome in his debut, he is much better than i thought defensively and his rebounding is goin to be so freakin important in the playoffs. He's such a big guy that he makes it hard to box him out and he gets a bunch of offensive rebs just by standing in the paint. Man what a huge upgrade over Elson. It was good to see Tony drive and score his way out of his shooting slump. His jumper is clearly a few weeks away from being back on, so he needs to keep up the drives to get his rhythm. Damon had a shocker of a game, but TD was solid as hell and basically took the game in his hands and got us in a winning position. Bowen is starting to worry me in offense alot more than before. He hesistates too much now and has started making really bad decisions and passing poorly into the block. He needs to wake up a bit and start playing well, Udoka had a great game again so maybe that's why Bowen is worried. Manu proved he is human afterall with a subpar shooting game, however with Tony and TD scoring we didn't need him to be super again. Good win!
