Brand, like Arenas, would be stupid to opt out this summer. Coming off a major injury in a season where he might only play a handful of games and only a few teams that could offer him a good contract.
I also seriously doubt he signs anywhere "cheap" (and by "cheap", I'm assuming MLE).
If he would be willing to wait one more year, I'm sure Portland would seriously look at bringing him in. The Blazers could probably give him his best chance at winning a championship...
Arenas
Roy
Webster
Aldridge
Oden

He won't be the man in Washington with Caron there.
Clippers make the most since. Gilbert is FROM LA. And a core of Elton Brand, Al Thorton, Livingston (if he can get healthy), Kaman and Gilbert is a contender.
Gilbert was born to play in LA. He's already a bonafide attention whore. The LA media/hype surrounding the guy would be crazy. Gilbert would love it.

Caron has been great this season, but c'mon. That's ridiculous. Caron's game is meant to be complimentary. Yes, he can be "the man" when it's absolutely necessary, but he's at his best when the offense doesn't run through him.
Actually, Caron's game is best when the offense is run through him.

Here are my thoughts:
First of all, if there ever was a superstar who would take the MLE to join a team, it would be Gilbert Arenas. Why? Just to be different. He would do it simply to get the attention of doing it.
Second, even if a team had a superstar already, unless said star is pretty outspoken, Gilbert will never be upstaged. His blog is too big of a voice, wherever he goes, you can be assured he will be heard.
I wouldn't count out Orlando. I know, small market team, no money, etc. However, Otis Smith, the Magic GM, LOVES Gilbert, and they are really close from their days together in GS. Otis was Gilbert's mentor with the Warriors. Plus, how funny would a team with both Gilbert Arenas and Dwight Howard be?
Gilbert would no doubt relish the Kevin Garnett role: Superstar that comes in and is the missing piece to become a championship contender.
Would the Magic do a Sign and Trade for him? I honestly think he is one of the only large contracts Otis Smith would be willing to take on.
Basically, I believe we can't logically deduce what Gilbert will do, simply because he is so... quirky... that it seems he'll do whatever is illogical, simply because he is Gilbert.
Of course, this is all wishful thinking on my part, I'm sure.
