Who was Ricky?
I'm a new poster here and I hear people talk about this obnoxious poster Ricky sometimes. Who was he? I'm just wondering. I know that SendEm thinks Igoudala is the worst player in the world, but what kind of stuff did "Ricky" say?

Board cancer who had the same hatred for Sammy as SendEm does for Iggy. His letters were something I think we can all agree we are glad we never have to see again. Had some battles with authority and jem another poster who was waived for the better of the board.

This is a hysterically funny thread for me. I routinely post on the Sixers board at Philaphans which is slowly being made unreadable by the presence of Mr. RickyPrior. If you ever hear that Sammy D. has a crazed stalker, I'll give you even money it turns out to be Ricky. The dude takes obsession to a whole new level.

By the way, Skates... welcome to the board. I've read a lot of your stuff on Philaphans and so it's nice to see another intelligent Sixer fan chime in on some topics.

Thanks for the welcome and the compliment. tk76 bugged me to check this board out a little while ago and I'm glad he did.
Oh, and for anyone who doesn't know Ricky, but perversely wants to, all you have to do is read his favorite thread at Philaphans, quite obviously devoted to Sammy (warning: not for the sane of mind):

Wow...that was scary.
Seeing Ricky and Jem laying waste to all of those posters over on that forum...
classic Ricky - "Name the players who are better. Now."
No problemo, boss...I'll get right on it.
This forum is SO much better without them here. And it's not that they were unknowledgable...they knew their stuff. They just did not know how to play nice.

I have never really had trouble getting along with Jem, for me he is enjoyable to talk basketball with even on his cranky days, but he has a low tolerance for posters that get wild with their trade suggestions and others who like to throw their thoughts out there. I know he has a history over here and that might be understandable since this board is definitely more free-wheeling, but I am cool with Jem.
Ricky has good and engaging points to make at times, but he gets caught up in the whole Ricky persona, reminds me a little of T.O. The start of his Dear Sammy letters on Philaphans occurred recently and the board has nosedived a lot since then, not completely his fault since there is an ignore button, plus a lot of people are starting to tune out the Sixers with the onset of spring training for the Phils.

I hear you, bro...of the two, I liked jem better as well...and I could even deal with his constant glass-half-empty view of things (although he sure knew how to throw cold water on an optimistic thread or Sixers development like few could)...it was just his personal style that wore on me...always looking for an argument...never willing to throw the poster a bone and say something like, "well, that's a good point, but I don't agree with you and here's why..."
And because he WAS here every day, I think that he could have shown more of a sense of responsibility and community as far as the overall tone on the forum. I'm not saying that he had to be a constant Kool-Aid drinker like dond (I love you, dond...keep on pouring!), but when the team did well...bring some genuine positive vibes to the table. When a poster (even a poster that he may not get along with) puts up a good thread, a little compliment or acknowledgement can go a long way in setting a good tone on the forum. Becausse he did post around here a lot, he had an opportunity to set a healthy, constructive tone, and I thought that he pi$$ed it away far too much.
But, I agree, I do miss him a little...certainly a lot more than I miss Ricky - that's for sure.

I could tolerate his constant Sam bashing it was almost scary at times if not funny, I just couldn't stand when he would make a statement then when other posters would call him on it he would flat out deny ever saying it. Then to top it all off he expected the person to look through posts to prove him wrong...that always drove me insane.

This thread feels kind of strange, sort of like talking about people behind their backs. And knowing Ricky, he would love to hear that people are talking about him...
Jem seems like a good poster. I remember arguing with him about Lou and then seeing him slowly change his opinion over the next few months as circumstances changed.
Nobody appreciates people who seem to have blind intensity in their hatred of certain players, but someone who has strong opinions that open to discourse and tries to keep an open mind is a good poster in my book.
Then again, Ricky never bothered me much here- but he has turned into a major troll/attention whore at Philaphans.
