Even if he does, I'm not going to spend any time even thinking about that possibility until the trade deadline next year. He could decide to leave for any other reason, too -- like to join one of those title-chasers in the West. The team will have to get a feel for their chances of re-signing him by then -- or maybe even start talks about an extension before then. He seems pretty happy here, and he's gotten more of an opportunity here than he has with some other teams. Van Gundy really seems to believe in him. I'm sure there will be a lot of considerations for him. But I'm not going to focus on that right now.

He will be traded before it gets to that point..he's going to be the piece that gets us our big or PG over the summer IMO..

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Maybe, maybe not. Van Gundy already has been talking about possibly playing him at shooting guard next season if the Magic have a true power forward next season and Rashard slides to the three. I don't know if he means he sees that as an option or as a solution to fill one of the Magic's positional situations. Van Gundy seems to really believe in him.

Realistically, Hedo will be shipped. He needs to be replaced by a starting PF allowing Lewis to slide to the SF slot. There is no way around that.

That Hedo has proven himself a capable starter now eliminates him as a super sub for the Magic.

I don't think he will, one of the best things about international player is the currency the US dollar translates to their country's money.

How in the hell does Shard make more money then Dwight. Otis should be shot just for that. I guess it shows that Howard isn't as greedy as Shard or that Otis was high at the moment. Shard must have slipt him some before the conversation started, he tricked him.

I don't think Hedo will demand Shard like money, hell, the way he plays he should ask TWICE the money Shard does, since he plays TWICE as better then Shard. But he won't and he shouldn't. Turk is a good guy and I'm sure he'll be more then satisfied with what he'll get. I'm guessing he'd prefer to pay for less then to get traded and payed more. He feels Orlando is his home. I'l be saddened if we traded him, cause no way will he opt out.

Howard received the maximum according to the amount of years he has been in the league.

On another note, Hedo has been better than Lewis on offense this year, but give Rashard some credit. Remember, Lewis is not playing at his natural position, also, Lewis has mentioned several times that he defers to Hedo instead of trying to pad his stats.

Lewis is averaging 18.2ppg...Hedo is averaging 19.4. Hedo has been one of our best players all season, but Lewis gets a lot of slack because people want to look at his contract more than his overall play on the court.

Hedo isn't worth max dollars. He's more like a Richard Jefferson type player, makes for a good third option, but not good enough to carry a team. He really needs great players around him for his true game to come out. He deserves to be in the bracket just above the mle and below the max, somewhere between 7-10M per year imo.

He might not, but his agent definitely will. A smart agent is looking at the fact that he produces more than Rashard, and the fact that Vince Carter just got a huge deal at age 30 and he will try to milk us dry. Knowing Otis, we will probably end up giving him 5 years and $60 Million. This is why I was pushing for us to move him this year. His value will never be higher than it is right now, and we had the expiring contracts to make up the difference in costs. Unless you think your team is good enough to win a championship, inactivity is not the best route of action.

At the age of 30 Hedo will be looking for his last big contract, but I don't think any team is going to give him a max contract, maybe 10 mil per over 4-5 years.

And yea Typhoon that's not how salaries work. Dwight's only been in the league 4 years, so his max contract has a smaller limit compared to Lewis, who has been in it 10 years (i think it's 10). Same thing with minimum salaries as well. a rookie might only get 150k, but a vet who's been in the league for 10 years I think has a min of like 1 mil.

A) It's called the "NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement".
Excellent breakdown here: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm

Go to question #11 or click here: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#11

There's a table there that lists the maximum salary a player can get based on tenure in the league. Both players got the maximum they were allowed by the labor (or if you are a speaker of the Queen's English - labour) agreement. Shard had 9 years and Dwight had 3 seasons prior to their new contracts/extensions.

B)

I think Hedo's agent will seek top dollar, I think Hedo is one of those guys that care more about everything not just the money and I want to say that he really likes it here, which hopefully helps keep him with us. I'm sure Otis will work something out, we have his rights so...I'd hate to lose the guy really, but if we get something we cant turn down...

Hey if you are Hedo you know that this is your last big payday. He won't get rashard money because he has to know rashard shouldn't have gotten Shard money.

but given a very god season this year and if he follows it with another it will be a hefty amount.
