How good will the Lakers be in 09?

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Tue Feb 26, 2008 7:31 pm

First of all I really hope Kobe misses the olympics. Now that he will always be going deep into the playoffs the olympics is not a good move.
Back to my point, next year Bynum will be back fully and Gasol will take his rightful place at pf next to Bynum. Bynum-Gasol-Odom is one hell of a 1-2-3 threat but you add Kobe Bryant to that and you have possibly the best team ever.
With Bynum and Gasol having a whole training camp to gel and a lineup of
Bynum
Gasol
Odom
Kobe
Fisher/Farmar

How good are they gonna be? Before Bynum got hurt he was putting up 17 and 13 with almost 3 the last month he was playing. He will only be better and unlike what alot of people here think (though no experts think that because they know better) Gasol and Bynum will make each other way better. It will be impossible to double anybody on the floor and if you had to double off somebody it would have to be one of the pg's because they are the only players who aren't allstars or close to it but there all 3 point sharp shooters.
If a team is so good and deep and well coached that they can miss the 3rd best center in the league and still be in first place what happens when they are all healthy.
How good are they gonna be when Kobe has 10 fingers and Bynum is 100% and Gasol is not playing out of position and Sasha and Farmar are one year better?
Is 72 games really that off if there healthy next year?
I don't know about you guys but I think Mitch the man formerly known as Cupcake has just built a dynasty.
If healthy I can see 5 rings in a row here. Gasol,Odom,Kobe are all in the begining of there primes.

The only thing that can go wrong besides injuries is Kwame Brown but I think if we get him back and Phil starts him over Bynum I do believe Mitch would and be backed up by firing him so I don't see it as a problem.
Has Kwame even cracked the rotation on the Grizz?
FYI- We should go after Magloire so there is no room for Kwame.

let's not get too cocky here.... bynum has never played with Pau yet and you're already talking about running off FIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS in a row? let's win the first one before we start talking about back-2-back!

much less back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back

DUDE.... weren't you the one wishing injury on kwame in a previous post?

let it go....kwame is no longer a Laker and will not be a Laker this season. at the end of the season if there is a need for a big man to clog the middle and fumble away easy lay-ups, then we should discuss. (IMO)

My bad I thought Kwame was working out a buyout to come back.
Kwame wouldn't bother me if he was in A DJ type role but Phil puts him in a Patrick Ewing type role which kills me and the Lakers win columm.

5 championhips is extreme but I have never in my life thought of or seen a team this perfect in my life.
1.They have a dominant Center on both ends.

2.They have one of the most versitle 7 foot pf's in history,

3.They have a guy who plays better when an afterthought and no plays called for him and when I say better I mean 15 12 5 and 62%
Odom fits this team right now even I (former Odom hater) would not trade him for Marion or RJ and I have wanted that RJ trade for about 5 years now. Hopefully Odom resigns a 4 year 35 million dollar deal because AB will be getting A DHoward type of contract.

4.They have the best player in the game (and imo history)

5.They have the best coach in the game (and arguably history)

6.They run an offense were if you have a 3 point shooter as your pg he will do great and they happen to have 3 pg's who shoot over 40%.

7.They have a sf who can post up any 3 or 4 in the league and even though he can't guard 3's (or 4's) there are 2 7 foot shotblockers just waiting.

8.They have 2 7 foot allstars.

How do you beat that?

They basically added a allstar pf and c for nothing. Bynum went from role player to franchise player and they got Gasol for a couple of draft picks and Kwame Brown. They were a borderline playoff team before getting those 2 guys and if a team even in the West just had the 1-2 punch of Gasol and Bynum they would make the playoffs.
They are the only team in the league with a 1-2-3-4 punch and I am not talking like the Pistons do, one of them is Kobe Bryant and the other one is the 3rd best C in the game and maybe even next year the second best offensive C. Howard is better then Bynum but offensively Bynum will always be better. Bynum is also still losing weight and gaining muscle and when he realizes he can be like Shaq in the 90's and Howard now and dunk on people all day it's not even gonna be fair.
If Bynum has the work ethic he will be the Center version of Kobe Bryant so not only are the Lakers set until 2016 but there set for the next 15 years.
I am finally going to have my favorite team win a championship. (I hated Shaq so much when he went to the Lakers I called myself a fan of players.

This team is the anti Knicks. The Knicks are a huge amount of talent put together but they completely make each other worse and were not meant to play with each other.
This team is almost so perfect it seems like I am playing a video game and cheating and taking all the players that just compliment each other.
So to sume it up 5 rings is alot but they could do it and it's not impossible for them to be like the spurs and win it every other year for a while.

Also the competition in the West is the best the league has ever seen by far but the Spurs are old and getting older, the Mavs best player is 34 going on 35 and we are just flat out better then the Hornets and Jazz and Rockets and out of those 3 teams the only desirable place to play to get free agents is the Rockets. Nobody wants to live in Utah and New Orleans so it is going to be hard for those teams to improve much without big time draft steals and ripping people off in trades.

Another way to look at it is what if the Spurs lost Tim Duncan and won 9 games in a row and were in first place in the competitive west or the Mavs lost Dirk or the the Suns lost Amare.
Hell even if the Hornets lost West and Paul was playing hurt and the Hornets won 9 straight and were in first place how good would they be? Amazing is the answer. Ming just went down and the Rockets have 0 chance being in first place. If they go from 6th to 1st without Yao they would be incredible.

Unbelievable posts by Star. Even his sig doesnt make much sense. Answering the thread title, lakers should have a real deep team with kobe about 30 years old around that time and bynum even better. We should be very deadly.
