LOL, are you kidding me? They aren't half the team vs the elite without Yao.
Check out Yao's games missed per season:
First two seasons: no games missed
Third season: 2 games missed
Fourth: 25 games missed
Last season: 34 games missed
This season: 27 games missed
Honestly, the guy's body is not designed to play such a physical game for 82 games.
Anyways, sorry to hear this Rocket fans, I wish Yao a speedy recovery, and hopefully this can stop reoccurring.

Nah, if they weren't a shoe in with Yao, there is no way they remain ahead of Denver who's just 3 games behind them, unless Camby gets hurt, which is not highly unlikely.

I thought this was his second, as well. Maybe the other injury was different.]
All I know is that the stress fracture injury can be hard for big men to come back from. It was the beginning of the end for William Walton...

I think you underestimate their frontcourt depth, of course its impossible to replace Yao, but they have shown before that they can be successful without Yao. Plus they can run a little more now. Scola and Landry have been really good this year, Hayes is a good defensive player and rebounder, Dieke is serviceable.
I think they can still make the playoffs, they may however be the first crippled team in the West.

I actually feel bad for the Rockets. Note that I've been rooting against them all season long, and will continue to do so (obvious reasons), but this is just horrible. Like someone said, when they are FINALLY clicking, and looking awsome good, the lose their key stone player. Like Barkley (I think) said about them, they were playing that way because they were finally Yao's team, not T-Mac's team so this is a HUGE loss. I want the Rox to lose, but not like this.

Siempre con mi isla del encanto!!

On the Jake and Jim show they were discusing how the Rockets just caught the Jazz in the standings, and then they played a quote by Boozer, in which he "summoned the basketball Gods", saying that hopefully they'll "do their part on the other end"...
Then suddenly, Yao Ming gets injured. Remind me not to get on C-Booze's bad side...
