When is the last time we beat these guys?
Rip Hamilton is a stain on the Pistons franchise.

I remember. It was that pathetic 64-62 effort three years ago. No one deserved to win that one.

Utah generally plays Detroit close, but this is at home at... Energy Solutions Arena (a ha ha ha ha, I forgot that its name was so stupid). That's a tough building, and the Jazz are dangerous right now.

I think our guys lose this one. They always have a tough time against the Jazz. If they win they'll go to beat the Clips for a sweep on this WC jaunt.

would love to see our guys win this one, but I'd be content going 3-1 on this trip.

Was that game when we won without scoring a single FG in the 4th quarter? lol

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that IF Amir plays at least 18 minutes we'll win this game. Why you ask? Because what usually kills us against these guys is getting out rebounded by 20. With Dice playing strong on the glass if we can get another active body out there I'm gonna say we actually have a good chance of winning. We need Tay to not like play like a puss and for our guards to hit the glass as well, but if we can keep the board wars relatively close we might just be OK.

If Amir played 18 minutes, I wouldn't care if we won or lost because I would know Flip is actually serious about letting these kids play to get ready for the playoffs.

If he keeps pulling them at every appearance of trouble against playoff teams, we'll never know how they respond.

The Jazz have a bunch of defensive weaknesses. They foul more than anyone else in the league (Jerry Sloan for you), and Deron Williams and AK are turnover prone. Detroit also needs to hit the glass to negate players like Boozer and Millsap.

Jazz = Drummer, Pistons = Drum.

I'm getting tired of getting tired of getting waxed by Utah, a good but not great team. No, that wasn't a typo.

I predict a win, why not. Big game for the guards -- Bills and Rip go for 60.

12/12/2005 L 78 92 away

1/7/2006 L 90 94 (OT) home

11/6/2006 L 101 103 away

1/17/2007 L 99 100 home

11/25/2007 L 93 103 home

They've won 5 straight against us and the last 4 have been heart breakers. If we win today, I can promise it'll be close to the final minute.

They play in Minnesota tonight, so we should catch them on a back to back where they have to fly back home. Hopefully Minny doesn't just role over and we see a dog fight.... but I'm not holding my breath.

We need big games from Chauncey, Tay and Sheed and hopefully some bench production. Rebound, rebound, rebound!!!

Minnesota can be competitive, and Boozer will probably have a hard time with Al Jefferson, but I don't expect the Wolves to put up enough resistance to make the Jazz fatigued or anything.

Well, well, well. Looks like the pups did more than put up some resistance. I wonder if this makes Utah tired tomorrow or if they play pissed.

The key was Minnesota outrebounding Utah and really getting more posessions, 19 more posessions. Of course the 16 steals probably played a part.

Getting 19 more possessions and 16 steals to boot is usually enough to beat any team. Utah is actually below us in both rebounds and steals, slightly. Considering our recent history with them, the team hitting shots at the end of the game is going to win this one.

Edit: A better gauge would be differential. Both teams are a the top of the league in rebound and steal differential. With Utah having the edge in rebounds and Detroit in the later.

You guys should have an easy win tomorrow. We lost an embarrassing game to the Wolves tonight -- tell your players that all they need to do is take the ball directly at Okur/Boozer/Millsap all night long, and they'll get fouled or score every time. Pressure Deron Williams and stick to Korver and you'll come out with a 10 point win.

Attack the basket and play tight defense...I think it just might be enough to be them.

Detroit has lost four straight, and 15 of the last 17 games in Utah. ... During the Pistons' three-game winning streak, Amir Johnson has averaged 6.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks off the bench while making nine of his 11 field goal attempts. ... Not including Tuesday's game at Minnesota, the Jazz are 20-4 since they acquired Kyle Korver via trade from Philadelphia.
