Oberto is also the starting center for the defending champion Spurs. I think Dampier is alright, but I don't think he was the best center picked this round.

Dampier is useful against big low post guys like Dwight Howard, perhaps Duncan, because he can use his size to man up. I like Oberto more because he's versatile with who he can defend, he has enough mobility to guard quicker bigs like Bosh, Amare, Boozer, etc, and he has the strength to D up against bigger C's. He's also a very, very smart basketball player and brings a lot of intangibles.
