We've gotten away with having smaller 4's the past few years because Yao is so big. Having a center who's arguably the hardest matchup in basketball because of his size gives you a little leeway on the rest of the frontline. Now what do the Rockets do. Deke will work, but he's not going to give them for than 30 minutes a night. Aside from Mutombo, the only player the Rockets have over 6-9 is Steve Novak who's a shooter. What are we going to do against guys like Duncan, Gasol, and O'Neal. I figure we're athletic enough now to run Shaq off the floor, but the Spurs will have no problem stopping a running game, and Gasol is a fine athlete himself. The Rockets making the playoffs isn't a crazy idea so this is a problem that will have to be dealt with.

Magloir has already been signed, the trade deadline has passed, and Bobby Jackson is only 6-7. So what do the Rockets do?? There has to be a big guy somwhere who can at the very least lean on opposing bigs and provide an additional 6 fouls. I really don't have any ideas. Who's out there who could be useful????

Hakeem Olajuwon? (the HOF can wait 5 more years!)

Justin Williams is Theo Ratliff II

Jamal Sampson took his team to the CBA Finals but lost 4-1 a couple of days ago
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Now that Brent Barry is out of the picture...

Antoine Walker is probably going to be bought out.
He is 6'9" and 245lbs.
Wouldn't hurt to have him as our 5th "big" man.
He's a decent passer so might fit in the Adelman offense.
He can be a chucker sure but has playoff experience and a championship ring.

Would be more useful to the team than a 6'7" defensive specialist.

gotta give them 10 day trials and prove they still can ball. Cause Walker's been the worst player in the wolves.

i don't think a vet like Walker would sign a 10 day contract.
walker has been bad this year. maybe it's PTSD from the robbery?
but i think he'd be a good scoring option off the bench

The size has obviously gotten smaller without Yao, but there are times where we can use our small lineup to our advantage.

I wouldn't say Scola is undersized at 6'9. He's not super athletic or anything though. And Landry makes up for his size with his althleticism and strength IMO.

I always heard that Hakeem was really only 6'10"

Kurt Thomas plays center at 6'9"
Ben Wallace played center at maybe 6'9"
Shawn Bradley played at 7'6"

Height's what's made of it.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?
A:Ask a stock market analyst or your financial advisor

Detroit is signing Theo Ratliff instead of Dale Davis.

Do we want Dale?

He hasn't played since last year's playoffs vs Cleveland.

but he's 6'11" and 252lbs.

like Magloire he was a one-time All-Star in the East

he's played in 137 playoff games including a trip to the Finals in 2000.

He was drafted #13 in the 1991 NBA Draft (Mutombo was picked 4th that year)

We should've gotten Ratliff. But if Dale's in shape, he'll be might be good.

Novak is listed as 6'10" but in reality he's actually 6'8" without shoes
our tallest player without shoes (not counting our centers) is probaby Scola or Battier or maybe even T-Mac

Isn't it too late for a team to waive a player and have them be eligable for the playoffs.

We can always bring back Jackie Bulter :)

the deadline is 3/1 (saturday) for a player to be waived and be eligible but you can sign a player whenever prior to the playoffs as long as they were waived before 3/1 as in the case of brent barry re-signing with the spurs since he has to wait 30 days. So players like Davis and Butler can be signed anytime and still be eligible.
