* Turned the Magic from laughingstock to NBA Finalist, where Shaq was the only guy who showed up vs Hakeem and Co. But left on a bitter note.
* He was key player on the threepeat Lakers, MVP and triple Finals MVP. But also had his very public spat vs Kobe. Still disliked by many Lakers fans.
* He was almost-MVP with the Heat and an important (but not #1) reason why the Heat won the ring. But only stayed there 3.5 years.
* Now, the Suns.
How often will Shaq get his jersey retired? All 4 times? (IMHO this would be unique, 4 retired NBA jerseys, that is why I am asking)
Forgetting someone big fella?

Penny was ok, but not more. In the duel Shaq/Penny vs Hakeem/Drexler, Drexler had a bigger role than Penny.

Valid point. I admit that Penny was good indeed, and that winners like Drexler always get the better rep afterwards. Anyway, Shaq may or may not get his ORL jersey retired. Depends how much bad blood is still there.

with all the bad blood with Jerry Buss in LA I doubt his jersey will be retired there any time soon if at all.

I agree with these odds, except Phoenix which I think is 0%. Really, Shaq won't do much better than 13 ppg, 7 rpg type numbers, especially in the long run of 3 years. Even with 2 championships I can't see it, which is highly optimistic in the West.
Miami I hope he doesn't get retired. Did Clyde Drexler get his jersey retired in Houston? I'd rate him around that contribution:
3.5 seasons for the team, second fiddle in championship season, one other season with numbers comparable to best at his position (20 ppg, 7 rpg, 6 apg for Clyde, 22 ppg 10 rpg for Shaq 2nd in MVP) and then 2 declining seasons, with Shaq's decline being far worse than Clyde's.
I can see the argument for Shaq being retired in Miami, more because of what Riley did with MJ's jersey, but I saw him as a rental rather than a Heat player, and think LA should be the only place his jersey is retired.

The Heat and the Lakers will do it. Lakers of course, because he was the best player on a team that won 3 rings. The Heat, he was the second best player on their only championship team, so I would certainly assume that they'll retire his jersey. Orlando will also do it, he's their best player ever and he took them to the finals. Time will heal the wounds of his exit.

Lakers and Heat.
Shaq did more harm than help, plus Nick Anderson and Darrell Flash Armstrong and Penny are ahead of him should any number get retired.
