3 more Games!!!!!!!

Post#1 » by WISEGUY » Wed Feb 27, 2008 4:59 pm

In the midst of all the COMPLAINING and MOANING about our team I think I wil bring up a good fact. We are 3 games away from our TOTAL amount of wins last year (40-42)

No matter what we all think (including myself) about Otis and his ways, our team is better than last year. We realisticaly have a shot at a 50 win season. Now I admit, I wanted a trade for a big PF and I hated giving RLewis so much money and I want JJ to get playing time. BUT...........Somehow, Someway all the pieces of the puzzle are working.

Remember this, We will not be the EAST Champs over night. What will happen this year is that we will probably have home court, We have a GREAT chance of making it to the 2nd round, We WILL gain experience that is MUCH needed and we will start to become a team that attracks free agents.

I watch Cleveland play and get beat last second by the Bucks. THEY are only 7 games above .500 and the ONLY reason anyone notices them is because of LeBron. Dwight is becoming the face of the NBA and as the seaon comes to a close, people will see our record and then Clevelands and the record will speak for itself.

The best thing that can happen to the magic, in my opinion, is that we keep the course and just DOMINATE in the playoffs. With National TV coverage and WINNING games we will slowly work our way back into the spotlight. I am SICK and TIRED of people saying that we are a Small market team. Orlando is the TOP tourist town in the country and EVERYONE knows about Orlando. It's time they know about Dwight Howard and the ORLANDO MAGIC!!!!!!!!

Go Magic!

"They made plays down the stretch, a bunch of guys," Jefferson said. "I felt like we could have executed a little bit better, but they are a good team. They are a team that has experienced players, and they showed it down the stretch." This is the diffrence this year ( VanGundy ) - We are are making plays when they count and we have a go to guy aka Mr. 4th Quarter.

Hey, ANYTIME there is a chance for injury. That's Life. I just think that at this point even WITH an injury we will improve from last year and still have a chance in the playoffs. Hey look at it this way, the chances of us playing Detriot or Boston in the first round are REALLY slim. In my book, that gives us a heck of a good chance at advancing. I don't know about you, but 8th seed SUCKS for the Magic!

Rant or not, good post. It seems like everytime i turn around there's another "i hate otis" or "rashard is over paid" thread. We're 15 games over .500 and leadin the division. prolly gettin to the second rd as long as we don't play tor or det, so thank you

Good post, I agree with most of it. The part that I liked the most is that we aren't that small of a market when you really think about it. It is a top tourist destination with a lot of notoriety, and they have a Disney franchise name to boot practically. Thats some pretty good name recognition when your linked to one of the top company names in America. Its not like Milwaukee, not much intertest in taking the family there for the brewery tours. Just look at the international following that we have vs other teams mostly because of Disney World.

It was a good post. The Magic are playing ball right now. 15 games over .500 is great. This team should win 50, the division and get out of the 1st round. But let's not let this mask what is really going on. Otis is not a good GM. He has made some good, even great moves in the past. But he has made some terrible moves (trades and not making moves sometimes). This is team is in good shape because of Stan, Dwight, Turk, and Rashard. That really is the bottom line. You could put any team around those three and Stan and they would probably win 50 and be in the running to win the division every year. Otis did a great job of signing our pg of the future Jameer Nelson. He rarely plays 30 min a night now and he plays good games once a week then dissapears. Why would Otis give him this contract after he had a terrible year last year? The real question is, isn't everyone sick of just hoping to get out of the 1st round. I mean I am ready for a championship here in Orlando. Everyone acts like we need to be patient and the whole overnight thing is overplayed. This team is overdue. Whey can't our time be right now. I am sick of being patient and building young, etc.

As for Rashard. I am thrilled to have him and I wanted him all along. But the bottom line is he is overpayed. The Magic outbid themselves and then added an extra year when they already agreed to the contract with Lewis.

I don't know what else to say really. We are having a great year, but this team is very flawed and Otis is a big reason why they are flawed....not a big reason why they are winning.

Who said it was his fault. He is basically the smartest man in bball. I don't blame him at all for his contract. He has played great and will only play better the more he gets familiar with Dwight and Stan. But c'mon...he is overpaid.

So far the season has been much better than I expected. Especially on the road.........

Just to add to the OP.. We only need to go 13-10 the rest of the way to have our first 50 win season since 1996.

I only say that because I'm going to be at the Wiz game in a week, and we're undefeated when I'm in the Verizon Center.

Just sayin'. :D
