I'll take you up on that bet. EVERYBODY knows Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. MJ IS basketball and Tiger IS golf, even if people have never watched a game in their life, even if they don't know the basic rules of either game, even if they've never heard of the game before, these guys have become worldwide icons. My 3 year old cousin can recognize MJ and Tiger; Federer isn't on that level yet.

Well, duh. Everybody knows that. But I didn't say Federer was more recognizable than Jordan or Tiger. I said Federer was more than most stars in the MLB/NFL/NBA trio.

I also never said Federer should supersede either of those two in the poll. I don't know where you got that assumption from my original post.

Again, I'm confused by your reply. MJ and Tiger>Federer. But my point was/is that Federer is more known than most major stars in the three leagues playing right now, hence my mentioning of players from different ages and sports.

He wins races against the best of the best by entire body lengths. He sets world records in strokes that aren't even his best strokes.

In 2004, he tied the Olympic record for most gold medal at one Olympics and broke the Olympic record for most total records at one Olympics. In the 2007 World Championships, he broke 5 different world records. He currently holds 20 individual world records.

Phelps is OK, but OLEKSANDER KARELIN just laughs at him. He is an Olympic super heavyweight wrestler who stayed unbeaten from 1985 to 2000, until Rulon Gardner beat him.

Same with Uljana Semjonova, female HOF basketballer. She won EVERY match in her career!!

As a unit, the German women's luge team is just sick. They won every world cup, EC, WC and Olympics run since 1997 (ELEVEN YEARS!!).

All Basketball Players know Jordan.
All Golf Players know Jordan.
All Rappers know Jordan.
All Boxers know Jordan.

But not the same for the other guys.

Looking at people outside of USA, people barely know 2Pac and Ali.

2pac, yes. But I think you could show Ali's pic to 99% of the world population and they will recognise him. The 1% are very young, very remote or very ignorant.

interesting, considering you didn't say his name..

again, I picked Ali because of his impact outside of the sport..TD the Man knows boxing, and he gave his opinion on why Ali wasn't the greatest..that isn't the argument from me..I just feel like he's had more of an impact and is more iconic than any of the others..

Woods and Jordan were completely dominant in their sports, but I have never really heard them say anything significant, or do anything that got attention outside of their sports..I'm not saying that's a bad thing, because it isn't, but I'm just pointing that out..promoting underwear isn't iconic..

I wouldn't say Tiger is a better athlete than Jordan or Ali, even though he's a great athlete in his own right, but Tiger is better at golf than Jordan was at basketball and Ali was at boxing.
