Game Thread: Denver Nuggets @ Seattle Supersonics

Post#1 » by Det the Threat » Wed Feb 27, 2008 3:52 pm

After blowing a double digit lead at halftime against Baron Davis and his fellow Golden State Warriors teammates, the Sonics won't have much time to think about that one, as they'll head home to face their division rival, the Denver Nuggets, on a back end of back-to-back games.

When and Where?

Wednesday, February 27th, 7:00 p. m. PT, Key Arena, Seattle, Washington

This game will be broadcasted by FSN NW in HD

Will Green have another solid outing?
Can we keep up with them on the boards?
Will Luke be able to put up another double digit assist game?

The Nuggets have been kind of floundering. They've also really shortened their rotation to about 8. Smith, Nareja and Kleiza are the only players getting minutes off the bench.

Sonics need to do that. I could care less if Ira, Donyell or Adrian see a single minute on the floor.

Watson,
Durant, Gello
Green
Wilcox, Nick
Petro

Guys like Wilkins, Ridnour, and Elson I'm not dying to see more of them this season. I think Fransico is decent but I'd rather have Petro get the minutes.

Well, usually you start to tighten your rotation (to 8 or 9) in preparation for the playoffs. We don't have to worry about that. But, I guess you're right that we should play the players we plan to develop and/or keep. There isn't really a good reason to play some players.

Pretty much.

I'd even go so far and cut Elson + Newble and look to sign some NBDL guys.
I mean, most of those guys(Elson, Newble, Griffin) wouldn't mind being out of here as fast as possible and we might be able to find a solid player that way.

i kind of like elson. no need to cut him, petro cant play all of the minutes at center. unless they are going to call up sene.

Yeah, Elson is nice, but do you think he'll be around next year, when he's got the chance to play for a contender and earn about the same kind of money?

BTW: There's also a guy like Justin Williams, who was cut by the Kings last Monday, and he could fill that role as well and might have a shot at a future with this team.

I like Elson I just don't see him sticking around nor can I blame him. I'd have no problem cutting Ira or Adrian. After all we still have Sene in the D league who over all has been playing pretty well.

That is true, but it really wasn't by choice. We only have 13 players on the roster and three of them are injured, so we only suit up 10 each game(on a good night). We just got Taurean Green and he is barely an NBA player.....Diawara could play, but there really aren't enough minutes available on the wings with Melo/AI/Kleiza/JR. If Nen

L-Burna89, oh, I thought it was in an effort to tighten up the rotation for the playoffs. I knew the Nuggets were looking for a backup PG, but I doubt he'll get many minutes. I actually like Diawara, but I thought he was squeezed out for Smith, because he is a better option on offense. I know Nene and Atkins would play, if healthy. If they get back before the playoffs start, they may even contribute solid backup minutes.

Regarding Elson, I kind of like him too. (I've argued his case in that earlier thread.) I am not enthusiastic about Ellson, but I think he is good enough that we can't cut him. In fact, I think we should give him a few backup minutes.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but did anyone see Ridnour early in the first dribble into the lane, run around in a little circle, dribble back out and pass off to Durant out at the three point line? That was embarrassing.

Edit: Also embarrassing was when the Nuggets decided to just not guard him and he realized he was wide open two feet from the basket. He threw up this pitiful underhand layup that didn't even get close to going in.

Edit again: Ridnour dribbles into the lane and then puts it off his knee out of bounds. How many turns has he been a part of? Like 6? It's the first quarter, jeez.

As much as I hate Ridnour though, Collison continues to impress me with his odiousness. He gets abused on defense by a cripple (K-Mart) and then gets two shots blocked in a row on two open layups.

Edit: He reminds me of a better rebounding version of fat Vin Baker (without any semblance of a shot).

Why do I keep watching this ****? The refs are merciless too. I think a big problem with a young team is that they can't sell the calls very effectively. I'm going to bed, this is pure frustration.

nighty night. you're way off on collison. that dude is solid. and the ref's? what do you want? you did watch the sonics in the 90's right? george karl teams always get away with slapping at the ball. and a young team like seattle is not going to get a lot of call's. that's just the NBA.
