Can Bynum helps us without alley oops?

Post#1 » by Taiwan Killa » Wed Feb 27, 2008 12:28 am

I was watching Tuesday Night with Ahmad Rashad and Patrick Ewing came on and talked and said he trying to teach Dwight howard a good hook shot and a turnaround jumper because he won't get those easy dunks and alley oops in the playoffs.

Most of Bynum's points are off easy dunks and alleyoops. Do you guys think he can help us even if his easy dunks and alleyoops were taken away?

Bynum has a baby jumper and a standard hook shot with an assortment of post moves. So YES he can help without alley-oops.

i'm assuming u mean offensively, cause he certainly helps in other facets. for evidence about what u are talking about though, one only need to see bynum versus the celtics. i think andrew has a more refined offensive game than dwight. he was really beginning to show it off before he got hurt.

If we're talking playoffs then I'm curious about how he'll handle contact and how it affects his decision-making. He doesn't need to do anything extravagant when he has the ball and he isn't expected to score a whole lot so he should be fine.

He was already doing that in Jan. 8) Specifically, remember the Hornets, Bucks, and Grizz (1st half before he went down ) games?

He showed that left hook against Chandler and did a positive job overall without getting his usual amount of lobs. 23/13 is an impressive feat against Chandler.

He had a sweet spin to the basket for a soft hook that really 'wowed' the crowd in the Bucks game.

I remember a spin/step through that froze Darko for a dunk in that Grizz games.

He still got some lobs or putbacks, but it was a definite improvement in his post moves that was being displayed in those games. Kareem said that wasn't even the full arsenal of Bynum's moves when asked about it. I hope we get to see more of them because I liked seeing a new move every game from Bynum.

Patrick Ewing also didnt play with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. You could make a case that he will get more.

Bynum was starting to show some offensive moves before he went down. He showed a couple of face up moves, and of course moves with his back to the basket. When he gets back for lakers to be successful all he has to do is defend and rebound. Any points he scores will be gravy.

Bynum was showing tremendously good footwork, post moves, and hook shots with either hand for several weeks before his injury. He was really coming into his own as a player that could consistently go into the post and create in isolation. I'm not particularly worried as long as he's healthy and as long as he continues to practice.

Oh yeah Pat? We've got arguably the greatest center to ever play the game working with OUR guy! :D No worries, cause KAJ has been teaching Andrew some finesse moves around the basket (his specialty) such as a baby hook as well as the footwork. Bynum's got the power, but we're doing an excellent job saving that power for when a Scot Pollard-type decides to put his life on the line.

?

One thing bynum has that Dwight doesnt is Kobe & Pau who will be the focal point of opposition defense's .... both kobe and pau are good enough to find the open bynum for an easy jam or oop

Dwight is better the Bynum but not by as much as people think. If Bynum was first option surrounded by 3 point shooters he would have those numbers to.
Dwight is way more athletic (then anybody) but Bynum has alot more post moves. He has many hooks, he has that up and under move and the little drop step so yes. Ming has more moves but I don't know what other center has more of a polished offensive game then Bynum and in 2 years Bynum will be the most polished offensive Center in the league. Kareem is a great teacher and or Bynum is that gifted. He should have gone 1-3rd in the draft.
