So what will the Magic do now??? (after tradedeadline)
Well there's a few big questions that are going to make it hard to predict.
1. How will Hedo's impending free agency effect the team's willingness to spend? Will they want to hand out the MLE to someone knowing he's due for a big raise?
2. Is the no power forward line-up a long-term plan or short-term solution? You figure they're committed to four starters (Dwight, Rashard, Hedo and Jameer). Anyone still clinging to the idea that Hedo could come off the bench, I don't see it happening.
So will that fifth starter be a power forward or a shooting guard? Figuring out that last spot has to be the first priority. And it also leads to question number three.
3. Where does Tony Battie fit in? Is he a starter, is he coming off the bench? If they consider him a starter, then we're not likely to see a significant signing.
My feeling is that the Magic are not going to use the MLE, or at least not all of it. They will consider the return of Battie to be an addition. Whether or not they consider him a starter could decide whether or not Evans returns. I'm pretty sure they'll work hard to get Dooling back, though I've been wrong before.
Overall, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Magic do nothing. A few changes at the end of the bench, adding a draft pick, maybe moving J.J. But that'll be it.
What do you guys think??????

What do you guys think??????
1. It will not keep us from using the MLE, but it probably kept us from adding a huge salary player at the trade deadline. Hedo will get his if he is as good next year.
2. I actually like the no PF lineup and hope it comes back next year. What we need that we do not have now is the ability to dump it for a more traditional lineup as need be. Battie would solve this completely.
I actually would have no problem with the same starting lineup next year as this year, but if we add a new starter it will be a SG for the MLE I would think.
3. Battie fits in as the 1st big off the bench. Battie and Cook will be solid backup big men next year. I see the Magic drafting BPA (PG, SG, big man) and spending the MLE on a SG.

He couldn't hurt things and he was one tough player. Otis won't do anything though - he likes our team and you know what we improved over last year and it takes time to build a championship - Ignore that I totally blew it at the trade deadline - we are a much better team.
I don't care if I totally blew an opportunity to help this team significantly - I like our team and it is better than last year.
Say this year that Gilbert Arenas were to sign with us for mid-level exception and Otis said no I'll pass - many of you out there would say that is cool ... look how much better we are doing than last year - what you expect to win a championship right away?
I expect to take advantage of opportunities when they arise like getting something for expiring contracts when they are at max value. I'm still pissed that Otis did nothing.

i agree with pretty much everything you said, except i'd like to see something a little more rugged and younger added to the front court as a contingency for Battie.
it'll be VERY interesting to see what Otis does with the expirings - who he brings back, how he tries to shape the team (ala resigning Evans, or keeping it as just Bogans/JJ to force JJ into the lineup).

I think Dooling and Evans will be back and the rest will not be. If Fran does not come over I would not be apposed to drafting a big like DJ White and using the MLE for a Childress or Diamantidis.
